What this game needs to be good is a skill tree, passive skills, perks, inventory system, gear system, sharper pixels, bigger maps, mini map, map layout, and it would make a fine ARPG. Instead of that we have a system where player picks three characters, each with one ranged weapon and a thrown weapon, no map, no mini map, bare bones user interface. It is possible to swap between the characters at any time. If one character dies, next one spawns until three of them are gone. They have special bar meter, which when filled, obliterates everything on the screen. Since the are no map nor mini map, it is hard to tell where to go next or where have you been, and the only orientation for that is trail of destruction. There are destructible objects which drop some collectibles. They can be used to purchase player upgrades like more damage, health boost, and such. But those upgrades are bare bones, and there is like 5 upgrade levels for each of five upgrade directions. Who cares for the story, but the overall package is mediocre. Not recommended.

Enter the Gungeon, story mode. Pretty fun, but it was upsetting to learn that the achievements are bugged.

The story so far... Not a bad game. Nice atmosphere. The noir aesthetic is nice. The dystopian story doesn't do anything new. It's adequate. Plenty of annoying bugs. Some battles fail to trigger. Had to go away and come back to trigger the cut scene. This happened twice. During boss battles, sometimes your character gets stuck in place, usually against a wall or a box. Of course you get killed. This happened about 7 times already. The door hacking mini game is weak. Character swapping is tedious and I think unnecessary. The other characters are really there to hold extra weapons and to pad out the costs to upgrade. At least for me, I prefer all the characters to have the same movement speed or HP, so I can treat them as one character. So that's gonna cost. Just give me one character that I need to keep alive. Maybe my opinion will change as I make progress...

Seems like a really cool game, certainly the beginning was. Played it in co-op over remote play together. Then, next session, my guest gets the 'Please hold. Input is temporarily disabled while the host is busy'. Tried everything online to fix it, nothing works at all. Won't go away. Can't play the game. Annoying.
