About Ostalgie: The Berlin Wall
Lead East Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, or Poland through the collapse of the Soviet bloc, choosing whether to reform, resist, or embrace Western influence as your socialist state crumbles around you. Manage party politics, elections, propaganda, and budgets while navigating the real historical forces that ended the Cold War, with consequences that shift based on your choices and alliances.
Ostalgie : The Berlin Wall
The confrontation between the socialist and capitalist bloc is coming to an end, but the confrontation between socialist and capitalist Germany is not. The old party leaders are still sitting in their offices, not changing anything and waiting for exclamations from Moscow. But their end is close – Gorbachev and Helmut Kohl shake hands, unleashing unexpected consequences even for themselves.
— Lead East Germany, fraternal Bulgariaб save the Genius of the Carpathians in Romania or try to help General Jaruzelski in Poland.
— Conduct the country through a series of reforms, leave everything as is or look for opportunities to build new formations of socialism.
— Fight with westalgia in all available ways or lead these initiatives and lead the country closer to the western neighbors.
— Serve the people and party officials, manipulate the elections, make adjustments to propaganda.
— And watch out for the distribution of budget funds.
The world does not stand still. And radical changes have already begun.
Can you withstand it?

no wonder the wall fell..this ♥♥♥♥♥ difficult2 found this helpful
Very stimulating simulator of the 1989-1991 change of geopolitical climate. I just wish individual countries were expanded upon a bit more, or if the game went on to atleast mid 90s to capture Russian constitutional crisis, Yugoslav wars or the First war in Chechnya.2 found this helpful
The LARP potential here is huge. HOI4 doesn't have a real cold war mod that actually works, so this is the next best thing, and it fits its niche very well. Example: in my last game I created Third Positionist Albania, assassinated Deng, supported Saddam, turned the PLA on the people probably 3-4 times, created my own military and economic pacts to replace the CMEA and Warsaw Pact, established Stalinist Romania & Mongolia, backed the Sigurimi so hard they became on par with the KGB and CIA, used the August Revolution as justification to carry out a cultural revolution locally and purge anyone who wasn't a trve shqip patriqt from the government, took in Mielke and Honecker as well as any other former socialist leaders once the east bloc fell, supported Milosevic, supported Gaddafi, supported the UCK, staged multiple terrorist attacks, and at the very end got invaded by NATO because I LARPed too hard. It's kino, anyone who says otherwise either isn't built for this kind of game or doesn't know how to play. This isn't even scratching the surface of the LARP that can be accomplished in this game either, you can do Irish Republican LARP, you can do German Nazbol LARP, and so, so much…1 found this helpful
