Miasma Chronicles

Worth a play if you like turn based tactics games. Not amazing, but solid. I only got about a third thru.

Pretty much a copy of the previous game of the same devs, but in different settings. The game is good, especially for fans of tactical games with RPG elements. It has nice atmosphere and an interesting story, but lacks certain elements. Exploration is rather symbolic, weapons variety limited, and you can fight with only three members of your squad at once, which was a dealbreaker for me. Your characters' skills are often not very useful and you can't master them to dominate a battlefield. There is almost no mangament of the squad between fights. The game has a potential for something big, but it finished only as a chain of small skirmishes on a way to the final cutscene. I enjoyed it all the way, though. I hope that the next iteration will finally deliver ;)

Interesting game

Miasma Chronicles is one of those games where the world feels larger than the part you actually get to explore. The developers (the same team behind Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden I believe) created a setting with a background, history, and implied depth that makes you feel like you are playing a sequel without feeling cheated that this is all new. The whole time I felt like I had been there before but not. It is of the dystopian post-apocalypse genre but distinct. They are not just rehashing someone else. The world-building is spoon-fed in small pieces, but each piece feels like it belongs to something already established. For gameplay, It’s a solid tactical RPG nothing special, but with a unique atmosphere, memorable characters (in between love to hate and grow on you), and a story setting that appeals as you progress through it. Holds no punches at times, where you wish you could save somebody but cannot. Stuff like that. And without spoiling anything, the twist is a killer — the kind of reveal that makes you think "when did anybody do that before?". I enjoyed how complete the world felt despite only seeing a fraction of it. It’s the kind of game that leaves you thinking about…

A fully fledged TB game with relatable and unique companions, fully developed battle system, solid RPG elements, unique item system and weapon progression and customization. All this in an unique and compelling post-apocalyptical US setting along a personal and very good story.
