About Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden
Sneak through post-apocalyptic ruins in real-time, then execute perfectly-positioned turn-based tactical combat against mutant and human enemies. This hybrid stealth-strategy game from HITMAN and PAYDAY veterans puts you in command of a ragtag team of deformed animals searching for the legendary Eden across a nature-reclaimed world.
“By blending real-time stealth with tried-and-true tactics gameplay, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden breaks exciting new ground for the turn-based strategy game.” - IGN
From a team including former designers of HITMAN and PAYDAY comes Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, a tactical game that combines the turn-based combat of XCOM with real-time stealth and exploration of a post-human world reclaimed by nature… and Mutants.
Of course the world ends.
It was just a question of time. Extreme climate change, global economic crisis, a lethal pandemic, and increasing tension between old and new superpowers. For the first time since 1945 nuclear weapons were used in armed conflict. Mushroom clouds rose from east to west before the dust settled.
Now it’s over and the Earth is still. Nature has invaded ruined cities. Wind sweeps through empty streets, turned into graveyards.
The humans are all gone. Scavenging through the remains of civilization are the Mutants, deformed humanoids and animals alike, searching for salvation or just something to eat. To survive, you and your companions must venture out to explore the Zone.
Maybe one day you will find the Eden of legends, the ancients’ haven in the middle of hell. That’s where truth awaits, the stories say. Maybe you will find your answers there.
Then again, maybe it’s all bullshit.

16 hours in and I had to look up a guide because I couldn’t kill anything at level 52. Come to find out you have to use silent weapons exclusively and there is no way to farm exp or money (scrap). Screwed myself early on and didn’t even know it because nothing in this game tells you: ‘hey, don’t scrap those terribly weak silent weapons’. Games that allow the player to screw themselves without foreknowledge suck.
Liked it, now ill have to try the RPG its based on.
SUMMARY 1) This is a stealth combat game. Not the sneak/heist kind of stealth, a sneak/backstab (back shot) kind of stealth. Which is fine, just be warned, you can make different party configurations but in the end, there's not a lot of ways to succeed at this game. Maybe on Normal difficulty. (Again, this is fine! Combat is fun if you like that. Just be warned.) 2) 3d movement mutations are useless, namely, flying and jumping 3) I might recommend playing on Normal (easiest) and just play the game for the story. Well, for the fighting. "Story" may be a strong term. I'm not sure if you can change Difficulty mid-game. If you've played BG3 and been frustrated by the 3d environments at times, multiply that feeling by about *TEN* and that is MYZRtE. BG3 generally does work and usually you can workaround the wonkiness. In MYZ you cannot. Additionally, MYZ is built around taking feats (ahem "mutations"). These 3d movement feats are expensive to buy because they would be OP in a 3d environment...if they worked. And they are are sitting in bottleneck positions in your feat trees. (You must take them to advance.)* There's no respec, btw. The final straw for me was having grenades on t…
Atmospheric, stellar music, super worldbuilding, nice stealth/tactics, good story, great voice acting, top notch!
Graphics are great, sound is also really good, the storyline is interesting, I like it is different than you would expect, plus the humor will make you smile. Long ago I decided that playing games is to have fun and if that means I need to put on easy to avoid getting frustrated or dealing with mechanics that are questionable or anything else that would make me prefer putting my time somwhere else, then even on easy this game will simply waste your time. I have no idea the reason it is even turn based, because combat although fun is stacked against you to a level you will learn to hate it quickly and end up uninstalling. Essentially you are better off avoiding combat at all cost, if you have like 3 characters, they will stack like 10 against you if not more, so even on easy, it remain difficult.
