Do not buy this game. First off, the navigation is so badly done you can miss entire puzzles or areas unless you already know to look for them -by in game logic or by looking it up- and get vindictive about it, and it also renders actually solving any mazes useless, because you can't actually see where you are going or tell if you have turned or how far you have stepped. This is not how to do point and click. They changed puzzles for the new addition and in doing so broke at least one of them for certain. It's culturally offensive and the pop psychology in it is harmful, but worst of all in a puzzle game, the actual puzzle(s) are broken and thus the solutions become random and arbitrary when you can actually solve them at all. I do not mean they are challenging, I mean the information or object are missing from the game. The game is full of typos seemingly unrelated to any puzzle solution, grammatical errors even in spoken files and even what has broken one of the puzzles in the later addition seems to have been a typo where a digit is off by one. I'm offended it was priced at 40$ and that you can't know how broken the game is until you've played it too long to get a refund, becaus…

So, I don't normally write reviews, but I had to for Riddle of the Sphinx. My dad and I played this game (well, my dad played I was his "assistant") upwards of 15 or so years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. But for nostalgia's sake I decided to play it again (as did my dad, but separately this time). The puzzles were engaging. The mystery, story and lore were all well thought out. This isn't like other puzzle games where the answer is super obvious. I had to pull out a note book and scribble drawings and notes and it felt like I was the explorer, in Egypt trying to solve a real mystery. There were times when playing through that I had to take breaks for work, or other obligations, and I would be thinking about the puzzles and riddles, and the answer would hit me! It was so immersive that I can't help but recommend this game to anyone and everyone. I also liked the small factor of fear that was involved. Not a horror game, but it definitely keeps you on edge, especially at first. The atmosphere, music, and honestly everything makes this game not just another puzzle game. I love escape rooms, and to be able to basically do one that lasted around 20 hours is just fantastic. …

I want to love this game. I really do. This game, and the game on which it is based, both have a lot of things going for them. ROTS is a classic-style point-and-click adventure and puzzle game, taking you through an admittedly pretty cool setting, being the Pyramids and Sphinx (and I'm a sucker for ancient Egyptian mythology and history). The game does this quite well, making many nods to ancient Egyptian culture as well as real-world reflections of it, and the remake adds even more to the atmosphere with updated graphics and rendering. The game looks good and is fun to explore and play around with. The remake modifies some puzzles and streamlines some things in the original to make it feel a bit more modern, which in most cases does help, and helps the puzzles connect better to each other. Even with some changes, ROTS HD struggles from a bit of the same "disorientation problem" that the original had. Sometimes turns are 90 degrees, sometimes 180, and this can throw you off and takes away from your immersion and enjoyment. That being said, if you're used to classic point-and-click-style games, you'll make it through this one. Movement just doesn't feel quite as fluid and …

Longtime favorite game. Thank you for creating an enhanced edition and for adding it to steam! I love the puzzles in this game, and the environment is beautiful. Truly a pleasure and a joy to play. The last time I played- I was in middle school :) Still just as fun now- and I really enjoy the steam achievements. Hope to see the Omega Stone rereleased one day!

I got this game remembering playing parts of it as a kid. The puzzles are still just as difficult as I clearly didn't remember any of them and had a blast playing this with my wife. I recommend this if you like a challenge. "RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX!'' heh
