Overview

Budget L4D with a top-down camera.
Run around the map clearing objectives and killing zombies who get in your way.
Save the cheerleaders, save the world.

Gameplay ★☆☆☆☆

This game tries to reimagine the 4 characters of L4D by giving each a special attack. Throwing a barrage of explosive cigars, performing a rugby touchdown which is actually a bomb, calling in an airstrike, and throwing a Hadouken. Fancy and varied as they may be, but these attacks all have the same result — a small, high damage AOE in front of you.
Beyond the special moves, characters all use the same primary weapon and the weapon drops from crates are all the same few. Gunplay feels lacking and unimpactful.
There are 3 scenarios with 3 maps each. The final map of each scenario features a boss fight. Other than this, the objectives are rinse and repeat — destroy something, guard something/cheerleader, bring cheerleader from point A to point B, eliminate specific zombie types in an area.
The problem with the gameplay is that it is so repetitive and boring. The 4 characters are pretty much the same, just wearing different skins. The maps are just s…

This game is a top-down arcadey shooter where you use crates with power weapons and your character's special move to kill spawning varieties of zombies and martians (only in the third campaign chapter or survival). It has a campaign mode, a survival mode, and a time trials mode. Campaign is three chapters of three missions. Each mission is broken into objectives that include standing in a circle for an amount of time, taking a cheerleader to a place, killing an amount of specific enemies, defending a cheerleader or machine, or blowing up a machine. None of them are all that fun or interesting. Survival is just an endless horde mode. Time trials is just survival but timed. I hate to speak ill of a small studio doing their best, but the game is just mediocre. You play the first mission, and you've seen most of what the game has to offer. You can, probably, beat the campaign missions in an hour. Two, at most. I know shouldn't expect the world from a $5 game, and it's not like nobody would ever have fun with it, but there just really isn't anything to recommend here. Oh, and I try not to talk about achievements in reviews because not everyone cares about them, and I don't think th…

Bunch of Heroes is a generic top down co-op shooter, except there is no one online to play with. No story of any sort either, as far as I could tell, other than rescue cheerleaders and kill anything else that moves. I recommend Alien Swarm or Helldivers instead.

Got this game for $4.99 10 years ago. I still have buyers remorse about it...
