Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

Usually, what sticks in my memory about a game is the overall vibe it gave me or a specific moment, like when my dad would excitedly buy a pirated disc because he really liked the fake cover art But the only thing I remember about this game is the lousy relationship I had with my younger brother. I don't like my brother or the person he’s turned into; I honestly can't recall if I always felt this way about him or not. All I remember is this game and the times we used to drive our mother crazy, just like any other kids our age. This game was one of the few things that made me forget the tension and bad feelings I harboured toward my brother the only thing that mattered was exploring and enjoying our time in a strange new world Now that it’s been several months since I’ve had any contact with my family, this game gives me an even stranger feeling For me, this is more than just nostalgia And I’m definitely going to make my loved one play it

Amazing platformers, although the remakes are kinda a downgrade to the original games I recommend emulating the original ps1 and ps2 releases

I played this game as a kid. It is simple yet fun to play

Both titles have been remastered, and the remaster of Door to Phantomile is built from its 2008 Nintendo Wii remake. Positives: + Two wonderful storylines featuring various charming characters. Even if you're new to the world of Klonoa, you come to appreciate and like him fairly quickly as a lead protagonist. I do believe that the first game has a much more sinister and legitimately creepy villain, and its ending certainly carries more emotional weight in terms of how impactful it is (the original version still hits the hardest), but the second game's plot isn't bad by any means. I just felt the first game had a bit more going for it and had higher stakes, albeit it is shorter than the sequel. + There's a perfect mix of 2.5D side-scrolling platformer sections mixed with puzzle elements. Pretty short, but fun.
