Guide Abe the Mudokon through a dark industrial world filled with puzzles and possessed enemies as you harness mystical powers to rescue your enslaved brethren from a meat-packing empire. This cult classic platformer stands out for its unique possession mechanic, dark humor, and genuinely unsettling atmosphere that blends action with puzzle-solving exploration.
After completing arduous Temple trials, and journeying across a wasteland with his friend Elum, Abe was granted the awesome power of the Shrykull. Returning to RuptureFarms, Abe destroyed the foul slaughterhouse, rescued his buddies, and brought down some righteous lightning on top of Molluck's pointy head.

I even had the PC CD version back then, and I spent a lot of hours with this game. It became one of those childhood games that stayed in my memory for years. On Steam, I only played it for 16 minutes, but this review is mostly based on my older experience with the game. I also played the remake on PlayStation 4, and because that version has better visuals, I probably will not return to this original 1997 version for a full playthrough again. Still, this game means a lot to me. It is my #45 game of all time. A legendary game, with probably one of the best instances of worldbuilding I've ever seen. The games "speaking system" and platforming is still engaging decades later. The completion aspect of the game can feel a bit dated, but the game is satisfying simply due to the puzzles, world, environment and sheer weirdness of everything. It also has some pulse quickening, heart pounding chase sequences that are really fun. Definitely recommended, just don't expect a modern puzzle platformer. New n Tasty is actually a great alternative despite being a bit less gritty and has a slightly worse aesthetic, although I completely disagree with the new=bad shtick, more eyes on Oddworld is a good thing!
This game brings back so many childhood memories. It was one of the first PC games I ever played, and it still holds up today. If you get the chance, definitely pick it up - its an absolute classic. 10/10
