A Chahi-like cinematic puzzle-platformer that holds up in every way, including the unresponsive crap-shoot controls. A classic one of these… a 7/10 but truly a classic.

A cinematic platformer in the vein of games like Prince of Persia, Another World and Flashback. Weirdly compelling subject matter and lore, but the game is way too finnicky and the controls can be too stiff. Part of this is the actual charm of the genre: everything becomes a little sequence of actions that have to be performed in order, sometimes very cleverly, to clear a level; however, missing a jump and losing 5 minutes of progress simply because the game decided that you were -1U next to the precise spot that you had to jump from to clear a gap, or having to reset from checkpoint by suicide because you have to carry 4 mudokons, one by one, to the ring, telling them to stay and then release them at the same time precisely in that order tends to get to you. There's also no screen scrolling; all of this is also by design and charming as well, but most players should look into the remake, which I'm willing to bet has a lot more QoL. But there's a je ne sais quoi about the OG.

I played this when I was like 5 back in the late 90's. Funny how much you remember even though you haven't seen/played it in almost 30 years.
