Don't get me wrong, it is a great and funny game... for the time, It's perfect for someone who's grown up with these old computer games, but it feels insanely aged for younger players. still a good game! just not as much now

As with a lot of games of this era, this was a really difficult game. The solutions are not always easy to figure out and I definitely got stuck multiple times on some tricky puzzles. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, it just means it's a more challenging experience!! It's really cool to see Sam and Max's first game outing and the things that laid the groundwork for the later games! And it's still full of that one-of-a-kind S&M humor!!!

A charmingly well animated and written game with just such it’s own distinct vibe. I think more than anything I just love the dynamic between Sam and Max and just the whole irreverent nature of the entire game itself. But I do think it can get a little bit too wacky for it’s own good as a point and click game. The path forward or to a puzzle without the hint book does have cartoon nonsensical thought process, which you can argue is actually really fitting for this game, but unless if you try out every single thing with EVERYTHING you have, you’re more than likely going to miss and get stuck on some puzzles that you don’t know if you even have the solution yet. I understand this is emblematic of old point and click games in general, but Sam and Max Hit the Road is a pretty open ended game, and it’s very hard to tell if you missed something hours back. Aside from getting stuck, Hit the Road is a pretty entertaining and wacky game throughout! Unfortunately this isn’t my favorite LucasArts point and click game (that would go to Fate of Atlantis), but regardless this is still a very charming game and personally for me a very decent first impression of Sam & Max as a whole.

It took me a lifetime of gamer to come to terms with this, but most of the Lucasart Scumm games are not good. Maniac mansion was more of a pretentious tech demo than a fun game, Zac Mc Kraken, an unplayable mess, Monkey 1 was good, but all the sequels were unneeded & unfunny, Last Crusade was the best, Loom & The Dig : unfun and unplayable without a walkthrough. To Sam and Max hit the road, I almost gave a pass. The game uses moon logic but is more or less playable without a walkthrough, provided you are VERY patient or have a lot of time to lose, or are a really huge fan of Sam and Max. Unfortunately the locations keep appearing and it gets progressively more complex and less interesting, moreover there are serious interface problems, especially wrt to movement, sometimes it's a mystery where to click to be able to move to a spot you can see on the screen. But the worst thing, is that the dialogs and story don't keep you hooked to the game, rather you endure them in order to finish the game. That's the nail in the coffin.. I don't know about the Sam&Max franchise, and it doesn't seem like something I'd be interested to read or watch, and I couldn't care less about this story of …
