Game is def a slog. There are moments, but they are far and few. Puzzles make sense but don't respect your time and you need a walkthrough. I still recomend it but its not a must play.1 found this helpful
13-year-old me had a blast with this back in 2006. It was definitely not my first point & click adventure game, but it was one of the first that I had played without much assistance from walkthroughs, and was able to enjoy it for what it was and the challenges it posed. It might be the nostalgia speaking, but despite knowing full well that it's not the best of the three seasons, it remains my favourite one. The Remaster is excellent, improving the visuals, gameplay and other quality of life stuff that bring it to where it deserves to be. The only complaint I have is changing Bosco's voice actor and re-recording all his lines, just for politicall corectness. And the new Bosco simply misses the 'je ne sais quoi' that made original Bosco one of my favourite characters in the game. Compared to newer seasons, I also enjoyed the simplicity of Season 1, and how grounded it stays in the home street, despite each episode offering other unique locations: a recording studio, a mafia casino, the White House, the moon and others. The humour is on brand and absolutely hilarious at times, and the stuff they did in terms of gameplay, especially in Reality 2.0, is among my favourite adventure gam…

Most people don’t know that Sam & Max first started life as a comic book. Or rather, it started as a doodle made by Steve Purcell’s brother, who later sold the idea to his older sibling. The dynamic duo of humanoid dog-detective and anarchistic lagomorph would make their debut in the pages of funny pages all the way back in 1987. Most of those books are sadly out of print and demand steep prices on digital resellers. Surfin' the Highway can be found on Amazon for a reasonable $164.51 at the time of this writing. I bring all this up to emphasize just how much all of this is eclipsed by the video games. Lucasarts’ Hit the Road from 1993 is still considered a classic to this day with the subsequent Telltale games offering a definite adaption of these chaotic characters. Bill Farmer may be a voice acting hero, but most folks hear David Nowlin when envisioning the mystery-solving mutt. Even after Telltale imploded, this incarnation of the two still live on via VR spin-offs and HD remakes of their titles. As is the case with Save the World.
