Oriental Empires puts you in control of a Chinese faction from ancient times, tasking you to expand from a single settlement into a mighty empire through diplomacy, technology, and warfare across a vast, beautifully rendered map of China and Mongolia. Watch hundreds of soldiers clash in real-time battles, manage intricate city development and cultural advancement, and compete against up to 14 other players to become the universally recognized ruler of the world.
- Start out as a single nation or tribe, starting from humble beginnings with a single settlement and expand your empire and develop your culture with the aim of becoming the universally recognized Son of Heaven and ruler of the world.
- Persuade the other factions to recognize you as such by either military force, or by diplomatic persuasion.
- Play as one of 24 different factions each with their own special bonuses or penalties.
- Vast beautifully rendered map featuring an attractive and authentic depiction of the landscape of China and Mongolia.
- Large scale battles with hundreds or thousands of soldiers, depicted in detail right on the game map. Watch skilled armies and reinforcements go to battle, according to the battle orders and formations set by the player.
- Fully animated 3D models, with variations in face and clothing for each model, including infantry, cavalry, chariot and artillery units, as well as naval forces.
- Long seamless zoom range lets you step right into the game world or zoom out for a strategic overview.
- Develop your settlements by constructing buildings and developing the landscape around them, build markets and ports to enable trade by land and water.
- Elaborate research tree including technology as well as cultural, philosophical and religious developments.
- Many other elements will determine the outcome of you quest for dominance such as Leaders, Sieges, Unrest and Rebellion, and Authority and Culture ratings.

This game should get an Oriental Empires 2. We want more DLCs. This is by far one of the newest and freshest additions to strategy games. The diplomatic system lets you offer money, exchange prisoners, settlements, armies, and more. You have to expand and grow your settlements while keeping the population happy. The game is incredibly addictive, yet still feels realistic. It belongs among the greats like Age of Empires 2 and IV, Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, and even Chess. I feel like I now understand strategic ideas I didn’t before, such as succession and the importance of leadership.2 found this helpful
Oh gods I love games that give you this much freedom to just building a little nation from nothing with so much freedom and without a complex UI and menu system. It's a lot of fun1 found this helpful
This game can feel a bit clunky to control, but it is a decent simulator civ for the starting period of ancient China (and Mongolia). Battles can be really tactical when the battlefields become big.

No idea how to play this. It would take weeks to learn this poorly created game. Not worth the time or trouble. There's not enough here to keep anyone's interest for longer than a few hours.
Basically the best turn-based strategy game out there with Chinese-theme. The joy of capturing lands and winning over other rivals is immense
