I mean, it's a cheap & broken JRPG game made with RPG Maker. Only with that sentence you should know what to expect out of it.

After All is a narrative-driven RPG developed by JAMgames and published by W. T. B. that takes an uncommon approach to fantasy storytelling. Instead of chronicling a hero's rise to greatness or their final confrontation with an ancient evil, the game begins once those events have already passed. The world has been saved, the celebrations are over, and the heroes who once stood at the center of history are left to figure out what comes next. It is a simple premise, but one that immediately sets the title apart from countless role-playing games that follow a more familiar formula. The game's greatest strength lies in its willingness to explore life beyond the traditional ending. Players spend their time learning how former adventurers cope with ordinary existence after years of living with purpose and danger. (The game does not launch properly when you launch it from Steam due to publisher incompetence that has apparently never been fixed after many years. In order to play the game, launch Game.exe in the game directory, not afterall2.exe. As a result, my playtime is reflective of the time I spent farming cards, not the time I spent playing the game.) After All is a mediocre RPGMaker game about the hero returning 20 years after he saved the country to find everything has gone wrong in his absence, unfortunately dragged down by low effort game design attempting, as far as I can see, to do the "jokes and being snarky about JRPGs mean we don't have to be any good, right?" thing. Also, the art isn't the RPGMaker defaults... instead, it's bizarrely horrible edits of the default art. The systems are very stripped down, with only one playable character and no equipment or usable items in the "real" portion of the game, as well as an auto-win button that you can press if you don't want to complete it legitimately. (I did, though, since it felt like that was most of the point.) Not much else to say about this one. It was only about 75 minutes long, and quite unmemorable. Not recommended.

This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. After All presents an intriguing concept by exploring what happens to heroes after their grand victory, but it falls short in execution. While the story has potential, the gameplay itself feels unpolished, with repetitive mechanics and a lack of engaging content. The retro art style, though charming, doesn’t quite elevate the experience enough to keep players invested. The pacing can feel slow, and despite its unique premise, it doesn’t fully deliver on the promise of deep character development. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a hardcore fan of RPGMaker games.
