Glaive: Brick Breaker

I stumbled upon Glaive : Brick Breaker on my quest to find a good and entertaining brick-breaker game on Steam, in 2025. Now that I've beaten it and seen all it had to offer, my quest resumes. You'd think that with 200 levels, a colorful presentation and several modes, Glaive : Brick Breaker had everything it needed to succeed. Unfortunately, the game forgot that the main aspect that glues it all together is a working and satisfying gameplay. Without it, it all falls apart. If you've ever played a brick-breaker, you know that the way the paddle and the ball interact is the most important. In Glaive : Brick Breaker, you don't have nearly enough control over that. No matter how you hit it, if the ball comes from the right, it will go left. Probably. Some bounces are inexplicable, and the ball can change trajectory after hitting anything... It doesn't feel great. Then you have the odd design choices : the first time you launch the ball it goes straight, which is annoying. It also gets stuck really often and for long periods of times between unbreakable bricks because of some of the level designs. Or the fact that the super power is basically "Jesus, take the wheel, I don't wann…

Float-y and inconsistent paddle control and no bounce angle control makes for a terrible arkanoid-clone game.

[b]While I like some of the assets of the game:[/b] - The two play versus mode (like in Batty on Commodore 64) - The multiple paddles on some levels in single player mode which I seen in TRAZ before (Commodore 64) - The 3D part. Bricks can move further inside, gives some "depth" to the game (get it?) - You can fill a gage to unlock a rage mode by hitting bricks. - Music (until it's not) [b]I can't go by that:[/b] - The gameplay is SLOW and CHOPPY for no reason - Ball physics is not on the top, sometimes it's even annoying - Power-ups doesn't feel that "powerful", I don't know... - There's a chance that the ball gets stuck between indestructible blocks, fortunately the rage mode can help Yeah, several game modes, "Over 200 levels", but with the lack of optimization, I can't bear it. Ruins the whole experience... That's the main reason why I'm giving negative. Would be a pretty nice game.

Really fun and surprisingly addictive brick breaker. The gameplay feels good, but with some issues here and there. The power-ups keep things interesting, and the level variety makes it easy to keep playing “just one more round”. Definitely worth checking out if you like arkanoid games.
