Deadly Days

Good gameplay loop with many different ways to play. Still in the later part of the game it feels a bit rushed, where u just run as fast as possible. Still had a lot of fun :)

I enjoyed *Deadly Days* for the short time I played it, but I found the RNG far too punishing. My biggest issue was food. After looking through guides and discussions, I found that players mainly get food from three different sources, one of which is supply drops. Unfortunately, whenever I reached a supply drop, I almost always received weapons instead of food. I lost far too many runs because of bad luck rather than poor decisions or mistakes on my part. Roguelikes should have randomness, but it should challenge the player—not decide the outcome because a vital resource never appears. The core gameplay is enjoyable, but the heavy reliance on RNG for essential resources made it more frustrating than fun, and that's ultimately why I stopped playing.

It's been fun, I'm having a blast thanks. I picked this up two years ago in 2024 and the backlog has grown and games have come and gone, but I'm happy to have fired this one up finally. Deadly Days is like a rogue-lite, real-time XCOM loot-runner horde survival type of game.... You're doing like two minute daily runs to grab loot, choosing areas of preference to find supplies in hoping of building out the best run you can to take on the final challenge. In terms of rogue-like mechanics, some specialities increase range of value based on unlocks after every failed run... A run defined as a collection of daily runs until beating the game or all survivors dying. And over time you see more activated powers, base items and weapons become available, aforementioned being attributed to limited slots. The order of the day is to accumulate and compose yourself with the best chances possible without over-extending yourselves in certain areas, while lacking in others. For example it doesn't matter if you have a dozen survivors but you can't feed them all... Or giving everyone rocket launchers, then you don't have rate of fire in volume. Paused the game on day 200. Came back. Game had ended for no reason, couldn't continue, etc... Would be nice if it worked. But it doesn't.

Not really my type of game.
