About Deadly Days: Roadtrip
Can you survive the journey? Each trip is a unique adventure into the 2.5D pixel zombie apocalypse, with a new course that you decide. Gain experience and push further into an ever-escalating bullet heaven, where overwhelming hordes are met with ridiculous amounts of projectiles. Find new characters, figure out the most insane item combinations, and meticulously puzzle them into your backpack for optimal synergy. Each stop pushes you closer to the final boss; or to that one legendary item combo that melts the undead like butter on a freshly grilled banana. Can you find the best loot? Space is limited on your trip. Scavenge for the most ridiculously overpowered loot to cram into your tiny backpack - like any road tripper worth their salt, it’s on you to work packaging magic. Each Weapon and Item takes up blocks in your backpack. Arrange them just right, to have their adjacency effects stack and power up your weapons for ultimate zombie destruction power. Recombine and craft your items into more powerful versions or unknown legendary new ones. Become lightning fast and dash between the zombies, or craft your gear into serious firepower that will make the horde crumble before you. Each level-up comes with a free airdrop, that might have just what you need. Can you find the survivors? The real loot is the friends you make along the way. Fill your base with 10+ eccentric and powerful new characters, who’ll lend you their exceptional talents and unique weaponry. Find, rescue and recruit them all. So a new, completely different journey can begin for each new survivor. Let’s face it, you haven’t truly lived the deadly days apocalypse until you’ve donned the banana suit. Can you escape the horde? Forget stopping at the rest stop for fries and a burger. On this roadtrip, every stop is a life or death decision. Every trip is different, levels are procedurally-generated and you make the choices.

Annoying ahh game.
Great game with good dev support. Each run is unique and exciting, and progression feels rewarding.
This game has potential. Auto shooter + backpack manager is a smart combination. Both pay into "kill more stuff faster" theme, so no side tracking there. Game balance will be an issue, as will making more builds interesting. Creative and challenging new enemies are necessary, too. Usability improvements like a high-contrast mode or a better visibility for relevant effects would be great. But that's core stuff for this kind of game. The jury is still out on how well they'll manage that. I am writing this at v0.21, which has definitely been an improvement on the previous version, but for progression, there seems to be only "far ahead of the curve" or "too far behind the curve", there is rarely a single event that can change a whole run. Personally, I wonder if they already spent too much work on grafics, because what they have now is neat, but terribly annoying with hard-to-see fences and canyons that disappear at nighttime one one hand, and beautiful details that you will only perceive very early on a run when the map is not completely overcrowded. For a small team, spending time on something unimportant is dangerous. Same with the story parts of the game - they are funny, the vo…
It is a great game with high potential but unfortunatley I cannot recommend it yet. - The hitboxes of the trees are way too big so one gets stuck pretty often there are also no outlines when zombies are behind trees or buildings so they often attack out of sight - this needs to be adressed as it is super annoying and fells very unfair to lose because of something like this. - Slow builds are trash, as zombies attack range seems to be very big at late game. Speed and spawnrate of the Zombies scales also pretty fast This is very also frustrating when you play The Astronaut or the sniper in the late game first. It seems like there are some builds which are impossible to win with. - difficulty scaling is absolute unbalanced. The game is either way too easy or war too hard and the pendulum swings back and forth while you progress. So it can be very fun but also very frustrating and needs to adress those issues.
it's alright... once you get a good build, you can take on anything, but the problem is that the more you win, the game scales up the difficulty. This would be fine if you were scaling up yourself, but the permanent purchases are tiny and expensive, and the only characters you can upgrade are ones you've beaten the game before with. What this means is that starting out with a new character with their unique items penalizes you. Not to mention a lot of the character unique items just plain suck. There's also a lot of bugs. Mouse gets locked to the interface, so even in windowed mode, it's hard to do anything else with the game running. Also, the tooltips over the stage selection screen often disappears and you need to restart the game to fix it. Other than that, the game isn't too bad if you like pushing your favorite build to it's limit, but the game really kinda punishes creative builds. Only a few weapons are viable to build around, and you will waste a lot of time figuring that out.
Highly addictive. Checks all of my neurospicy boxes.
