About Else Heart.Break()

✦ AI summary

Explore a dynamic city as Sebastian, forging friendships and uncovering conspiracies while learning to reprogram reality itself through hacking. This adventure reimagines the genre by letting you solve problems creatively through code rather than rigid puzzles, where every choice shapes a living world that remembers your actions.

Sebastian has just landed his first job in the distant city of Dorisburg. He moves there to start his adult life and figure out who he really wants to be. Among a strange collection of people, hackers and activists he finds some true friends – perhaps even love. But can they stop the terrible deeds of the people ruling the city? And who will get their heart broken in the end?

Else Heart.Break() is a reimagination of the adventure game – a fantastic story set in a fully dynamic and interactive world. Instead of rigid puzzles you will learn (with the help from other characters in the game) how the reality of the game can be changed through programming and how any problem can be solved in whatever way you find suitable.

From the creators of Blueberry Garden, Clairvoyance and Kometen, a new and unforgettable adventure!

I agree completely with all the negative reviews, I have no idea why others enjoy this, It's basically a story game/walking simulator but with a really boring story and shallow characters who just party and get drunk, none of them have much backstory. Typical dialogue Hi/Hey/Want a beer?/Sure/Nice party/Yeah/Bye. There's no real missions or goals or things to do (unless you count meeting somebody to go to a party) . Others have said the programming parts are good but there's no help on what syntax to use or programming language (I guess something object oriented from the game title?), you can try typing random things but obviously none of that works. I'm just not invested in the story enough to watch online guides to learn a new programming language for this game. (My total play time is about 2 hours not the 15 min it shows due to playing offline)

Essentially just walked around lost for an hour talking to random characters for an hour before I got bored and put it down.

this is a masterpiece and one of my absolute favorite games, I have never played anything else like it. it is also quite flawed the good: it captures the feeling of classic hacking perfectly. in the age of ai where a lot of devs (myself included) are going through a bit of an identity crisis, this is a very grounding and comforting game. as a puzzle game, way too easy. as a meditative experience to get lost in, best in class I love the aesthetic, but I'm sure it can be polarizing. either way, the screenshots are accurate the rough edges: avoid guides. do not look things up. it's quite easy to ruin entire sections of the game. the progression is driven by you exploring the systems and learning things, not necessarily specific gates. if you get stuck, go explore random systems, make yourself little tools, etc. there's a good chance you'll stumble across a way to progress in the same vein, there is not much replay value. you can play through again, but you already know enough secrets that the game could be quickly finished. assume there's a hard cap on the time you'll spend with it of about 20 hours the biggest problem is the pacing. in particular: - there are several days in t…

It has been probably close to 10 years since I played this game now, and I'm still searching for another game that scratches this same itch. I wish I could go back and replay this for the first time.

I've never started a game and wanted to refund it so fast. Never made it to coding. I hated the art, the dialog, and the fact that I had to set the phone on the ground and not back on the hook after answering it.
