Batora: Lost Haven

This game just defeated me. Like, I try to be fair and give every game some time - after all not every title need to grab you from the get go. Batora have some really nice visuals and character designs, decent sound and interesting mechanics, where you need to constantly switch between two modes of combat - melee (Sun) and ranged (Moon), as some enemies might be immune to one of them, not to mention some simple puzzles. But! I simply can't play it without constant asking the Universe "WHY?". Combat can be bit slow and controls unresponsive, but cool, not everything need to be on the level of Hades 2. Keyboard binding is... weird? And not really intuitive. Like, I can't simply confirm with enter? o_O And camera angle is a choice, I'd say - found out max zoom out is most convenient way of playing for me. But those are small details that I could easily get through, except... Dialogues sucks donkeyballs. Story does not feel too crazy - Chosen One, saving the Universe, karma system that might (or might not) affect the outcome - pretty standard. Maybe later on it gets some tracktion, but I won't know, because every talk in this game makes my stomach tie into knot. Cringe is the word…

It is not a horrible game and there was definitely some effort and care put into it, but I just found it boring, repetitive, and the voice acting and main character are just awful. The controls are pretty awful too, weirdly unresponsive for some reason, which is not great for a game like this one. The game works without any issues on Linux with Proton (9.0-4).

A fun game but unfortunaly A lot of the buttons don't work with controller, instead they spaz out at super speed. Also some of the boss fights are just straight up broken, I even looked them up on youtube and no one was having the same problems as me. The bosses would infinitely heal up over and over and were impossible to complete.

Damn its 2022 game but feels like its out of 2007. Story starts without any logic or background which is a red flag. Movement is so clunky and combat of some mobile games are much better than what you'll experience here. Everyone is making games nowadays..
