Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders

It pains me to give this a negative review, but my god is this game dull. Most of the interaction consists of simply highlighting your cursor over obvious hotspots and listening to Poirot's reactions. "Hmm... I believe the madam is quite smoker." - proceeds to confirm this by clicking on hotspots such as a cigarette in her hand, an ash tray, and a pack of cigarettes lying on the table. Just mind numbing and feels like a murder mystery designed to be played by elementary schoolchildren.

I love Agatha Christie. I was very excited to play this. However, the game holds your hand the whole time. There is no need to think about anything. Your cursor changes whenever there's something you can interact with, you know how many clues you need to find in any set area, there are hints popping up even when I don't want them (ex: inspect when he dropped when he walked in), etc. Also, there are SO MANY loading screens. A gazillion zoom in/zoom out or fade in/fade outs between everything you do, including within the puzzles. It's terribly slow and frustrating. This game is unfortunately not worth my time, and it's probably not worth yours either.

As someone who occasionally enjoys relaxing with games like this, I have to admit that I found the game very enjoyable. Visually, it stands out slightly from the top-tier games, which is a nice change. Would I recommend this game to younger players? Definitely! :)

the story is not bad but the gameplay and the control is like a game from 90

The ABC Murders is a decent detective adventure game based on Agatha Christie's novel of the same name. The game follows the original story quite closely, although there are some small differences in certain details and scenes. Still, the main story, investigation, and overall idea of the book are adapted pretty well. You play as Poirot, investigating a series of murders by looking for clues, talking to suspects, and putting the pieces together. The investigation itself is enjoyable, although the puzzles are generally not very difficult and are more suited to a relaxed playthrough. The graphics are simple, but the cartoonish style fits the game well. Some of the dialogue and animations feel a little stiff, and a few parts can drag on. Overall, it's a decent game for fans of detective stories and Agatha Christie. If you've already read the book, there won't be many surprises, but it's still interesting to experience the familiar story in game form.
