Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

I want to recommend this. I really do. At best, it's /fine/, but more realistically it's /ok at best/. So you want a detective adventure game. You're not caring about actual character development, or likeable characters, or anything: then sure, you are going to get none of that with this. It's not something you'd expect, and you're not going to find yourself crying at the end (see: The Blackwell Quintet). So you want the ability to need to think about your deductions: this seems to hit that point! each of the 6 (4 decently fleshed out + 2 really quick) cases has multiple conclusions which you reach by deciding certain points do or do not hold. This is pretty great - the deduction and mystery in this sort of game quickly fall down when a game is so linear it tells you that your suspicion of some character is clearly unfounded not through analysis, but simply by the game deciding that character is not investigable...but then it falls down: okay, I can suspect this character, but how does anything else I deduced make sense? There is a "correct" option for each case, but at every single one of them I either a) had a rock solid case that someone else could've done it (and I can accu…

I give this game a rate 2.5, it was fine for once playthrough but re-over for achievement issue wasn't the exact the first playthrough.... here is why on case 3: salt and ice on photography didn't appear AFTER in brain which I can't able to processing further so if you are playing this game I advise you play ONCE otherwise you'll end up struggle re-over case for nothing good luck

50/50 review: The characterizations are good and it looks nice. However, the mechanics are wonky/difficult and the travel time is soooooo long. Finally, much of the evidence is circumstantial or even illogical. For fans of Sherlock Holmes, this is disappointing. There are better games.

If you don't like graphic adventures where you have to collect junk or hit the exact pixel on a door handle just to get a door to open... this is the graphic adventure for you! Everything has been designed to avoid frustration!!! A game that must be played first and foremost to experience the setting.

I would only recommend this game when it has a deep sale like right now. I’m on the second case and have experienced four crashes. The game auto saves frequently so you’re not in any real danger of losing much progress, but this would be unacceptable to me if I paid full price. Game itself is pretty great. Love the method of investigation. There was a mini game in the first case that was kinda annoying that I felt had nothing to do with being a detective.

Playing through the 6 different cases was fun, but it holds your hand throughout all of them. Furthermore the game crashed on me at least 8 times. Overall if you enjoy sherlock and some light crime solving this is definetly worth a playthrough.
