Doomsday Jetlag

I never really write reviews, but I thought it was a shame this game hasn't gotten any. The retro aesthetic is great and the music is absolutely awesome, and most importantly it's great fun to play; it took a few minutes to get used to how the jet controls but once you get the hang of it it feels awesome. I did spot a few bugs, but the developer is very responsive in the discussions section and makes fixing reported bugs a top priority. Overall, if you're looking for a simple but exciting game to kill time with this is a great choice.

Fun little game for the money. It was recently released and had no reviews when I bought it, so it was a roll of the dice. I really appreciate the old school aesthetic, what with the vector graphics and music and whatnot, but with that old school style comes old school difficulty - this is a game that makes you work. Upgrades cost a lot and you do not earn money very quickly - if you like to progress quickly in a game, this won't be for you. I also find that the game is EXTREMELY stingy with health, which limits how long each round will last, maybe this was a choice by the devs to fit with the intense grinding aspect of the game, or maybe I'm just being a poor sport. Having said that, the gameplay itself is very fun, though due to the grind aspect of it, I don't find myself playing for very long in one sitting as the wimpy plane with few upgrades (which take a long time to get to) gets boring to play with rather quickly in my opinion. However, at the time of writing this, the game is only about a month and a half old, so I imagine, and look forward to, updates from the dev to iron things out. Great way to spend $5

Pretty fun for the luftrausers adjacent combat, but the progression takes a lot of getting used to. You enter the game with one plane and defend cities to get cash. That cash is spent on upgrades that never go away or new jets. The grind takes a long time before you even get close to killing a boss, but that's not the hard part. You get paid based on how many cities/survivors the country you're protecting has. You could get a god run with all the right perks but get zero currency because both cities you were meant to protect died without you noticing. Seems like the best strategy for early runs is fighting until you reach a boss then manually ending your run while you still have cities to protect. Overall it's a fun game, the runs don't last long coming around 20 minutes if you're REALLY going hard but usually ending much sooner.

I like the presentation and gameplay a lot, it's like dogfighting in 2D and adjusting your speed to make tighter turns. Lots of levels too. I'm not a fan of how grindy it is for an arcade-y game. Permanent upgrades have a much greater effect than the upgrades you get from levelling up from each run. Permanent upgrades cano boost the speed/attack/attack speed and defence of your jet, while all the upgrades in a run add a few measly Vampires Survivors-style passive abilities with very little effect or benefit. Don't expect to beat levels unless you've been grinding for a while, the Carrier enemies have lots of health. Regardless, give it a go, overall I enjoyed it, well worth the price. It deserves more reviews.
