About Aces in the Dust
In an alternative world to ours, only a few years have passed since the discovery of the great capabilities and military uses of Mitrilia, a very rare and complicated to treat mineral. This discovery led to disputes between different countries that have ended in a war and various battles, which we will live through from the perspective of a group of elite airmen sent to defeat the enemy.
In Aces in the Dust you are in the shoes of this elite group, made up of Varick, Dimitrii and Victoria, each one piloting a state-of-the-art warplane with unique characteristics that differentiate them.
You must shoot enemies, avoid obstacles, know which weapon to use at all times and dodge hundreds of bullets if you want your pilots to survive each mission and get the highest scores possible.
So prepare your weapons, aim well and ... finish the enemy!
Aces in the Dust is inspired by classic rail shooter games such as Panzer Dragoon and Star Fox.
Main features:
- Play as a trio of pilots, each flying a unique plane with different characteristics.
- Advance through the levels alternating between the different pilots to face different situations in the most favorable way.
- Take out an array of enemies and a powerful final boss as you advance through enemy territory in a large rocky desert.
- Dodge terrain obstacles while defeating enemies.
- Defeat enemies without taking damage to achieve a good score at the end of levels.

✦ AI summary
Players recognize Aces in the Dust as a student project with a competent flight game foundation, but opinions diverge sharply on its value. While some appreciate it as a solid flying experience, critics argue it lacks the polish and content depth of a professional game, questioning whether academic exercises belong on Steam as commercial releases rather than serving purely educational purposes.

"Aces in the Dust" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from ESAT in Valencia, Spain. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students started to make a third person rear-view arcade shooter/rail shooter with a choice of three warplanes with various firepower, which might work in a shallow kind of way, if they had bothered to finish it. What's the lesson here? ESAT teaches students it's okay not to finish what they start, and just dump it out on Steam anyway. Unfortunately, this means the students…1 found this helpful
Looks like a homework or semester project of a student major in GameDev, I have seen 3 sterotypes of flight games: 1.You cannot move, just shoot anywhere on the screen, like a bomber tail gunner 2.You can move on the screen the shoot targets on the screen, like airplanes using a auto-nav with emergency maneuver mechanism. 3.You can fly anywhere and shoot anything you want, standard flight action games, it grant more free for players, but the content could be empty. This game is the second type, I think it havent make full use of the track mechanism, or I should say, the quantity and quality of the major content do not match the type, it more likes a 3rd type indie game but with limit free-to-interact (you can fly anywhere)1 found this helpful
