Aces in the Dust

Awesome flying game

"Aces in the Dust" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from ESAT in Valencia, Spain. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students started to make a third person rear-view arcade shooter/rail shooter with a choice of three warplanes with various firepower, which might work in a shallow kind of way, if they had bothered to finish it. What's the lesson here? ESAT teaches students it's okay not to finish what they start, and just dump it out on Steam anyway. Unfortunately, this means the students…

Looks like a homework or semester project of a student major in GameDev, I have seen 3 sterotypes of flight games: 1.You cannot move, just shoot anywhere on the screen, like a bomber tail gunner 2.You can move on the screen the shoot targets on the screen, like airplanes using a auto-nav with emergency maneuver mechanism. 3.You can fly anywhere and shoot anything you want, standard flight action games, it grant more free for players, but the content could be empty. This game is the second type, I think it havent make full use of the track mechanism, or I should say, the quantity and quality of the major content do not match the type, it more likes a 3rd type indie game but with limit free-to-interact (you can fly anywhere)
