When you fall in battle, you lose your accumulated Tithe and awaken again in the Mansion. Continue to fight and discover the source of your brand and what the sacrifice really means.Play as any of the 4 unique characters, and complete optional side quests for unique rewards and secret party members, and experience multiple distinct endings to the game. Experience challenging but winnable turn based combat and bosses in the 5 different dungeons, each with their own strategy to learn. Included in the program files is a PDF Walkthrough with information on the Main Story Quest, Side Quests, and Boss Battles. All content in this game is created using RPG Maker Event Processing, as an experiment in the capabilities of the program, and does NOT feature any Generative AI or AI assisted content. The "Souls" formula stirred together with that classic Final Fantasy combat/sprite work works really well. Walking into my first encounter with a murder of crows just to get bent over a log set the tone of what to expect nicely. It's a game that rewards farming in more ways than one and is a fun experiment on what you can do with limited tools and an idea. Taking the souls leveling and incorporating that use it or lose it was a nice touch. The best part overall was stumbling upon a major optional boss completely by accident and having to weasel my way into a win. As a first go, this is a solid short experience and would be fun to see expanded upon as a universe.
