[後半に日本語レビューあり] [h1] A Japanese Fantasy Roguelite of Demon-Slaying and Reincarnation [/h1] Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a Hades-style roguelite action set in a Japanese-inspired world overrun by yokai, where three protagonists cross paths in a tale of past, present, and future bound by reincarnation. Shigure the ninja, Sara the jailer of the underworld, and Taketora the beastlike warrior each bring their own narrative and gameplay style, and with each loop of the ever-shifting world, the larger picture gradually comes into view. Gameplay revolves around dual weapon slots combined with Soul Orbs, while blessings and the cooking system (recipes expand as you offer collected ingredients) bring variety to every run. Combat emphasizes parry timing and counter finishers, delivering the exhilaration of unleashing decisive moves even within short loops. Boss battles in particular leave a strong impression with diverse visuals and attack patterns that define the climax of each run. I haven’t played Hades (yeah, I know, shame on me), so I can’t compare it like most people do, but I think this is a pretty decent roguelite game. The action feels fast and responsive, and it plays more like a boss rush since you only have to clear two fairly quick rooms before each boss. Runs usually take around 20–25 minutes, which feels just right for me personally. You’ll need a few cycles to finish a character’s story, and since you’ll be fighting the same bosses plenty of times as each character, being able to jump back in right after messing up is something I really appreciate. As for the story, I haven’t started Taketora’s yet, but I did finish Shigure’s and Sara’s. Both were surprisingly compelling to follow, and I find Sara’s story quite hilarious. Overall, I think the devs did a good job with this game.4 found this helpful
Great game. Good story. Good combat. Would recommend. if you do play i would say play Taketora, Shigure, then Sara story wise Combat wise for fun in the opposite order Go to weapons Sara - Butcher knife and Spring dango Shigure - Red crane and Undying Cuckoo Taketora - Shadow star and Nioh at first, then Shadow star and Chinzei to clear faster3 found this helpful
In the demo I had such a high hopes this game will be much more polished in the full release, but now? The devs are running away, moveset and window parry is clunky, repetitive boss etc.1 found this helpful
game is mess. parry window being clunky and dodges are being too slow . thats make game really bad . they need to get rid of parries or fix parry window and make dodges more faster . really bad combat . just fix two things and game can be decent to play. otherwise its so bad. will update this if they fix1 found this helpful
Story seems nice but the gameplay is grindy and repeated. People have compared this to Hades II.
