Headquarters: World War II

If Panzer General went 3-D. That's the best way I can describe this game. Literally Panzer General with a new skin. It's a run of the mill RTS with a steep challenge curve. Scout units are practically useless, Army customization practically stops at " what kind of camo do you want for this unit. You're stuck with a limit on core units and frankly , I'm kind of tired of every US campaign starting in Normandy. How about we have a campaign start in North Africa and you can choose where to go from Operation Torch ? All in all, it's a bit of a trudge, overwatch is "Over used" as every time you move a unit, even the scouts, they get caught in an overwatch shoot out. In closing, like I said, Slitherine just took The " Generals" series and made it 3-D and halved the fun. 40 bucks American for this ? I should've waited for a sale. I'm a bit disappointed too, Slitherine has always been on the mark with it's WW2 RTS's, and it's a shame.

The camera angle sucks, enemies appear out of nowhere, spotting system is crap. Models are cool.3 out of 10.

The regeneration of opposing AI units leaves a lot to be desired. If I have tanks positioned at the N, E, S, and W of a position, the AI will generate an enemy take in the middle of that grouping. How in the world does a tank just materialize inside your formation without any unit noticing it. And to make matters worse, at point blank distance they will very frequently have a kill before you can even react.

World War II Headquarters certainly won't win any innovation awards, but it is a solid turn-based strategy game set against the backdrop of World War II. The game has a distinct board game feel, so it lacks a certain depth, but a streamlined ruleset keeps things moving without unnecessary delays. Turns are swift and may result in complete disaster if you're not paying attention. Naturally, the AI is often as dumb as bricks, but the multiplayer mode makes up for this shortcoming (which certainly is quite common among comparable games). Units have distinct abilities within their class; spotters can do different things than snipers, flamethrowers, or paratroopers. Vehicle armor is modeled rudimentarily, meaning it makes a difference whether you attack a vehicle from the front or the flank. Artillery support via self-propelled guns, cannons, and mortars also works straightforwardly. The graphics are quite pleasant to look at, perhaps slightly cluttered and somewhat too resource-heavy given the visual output. But be that as it may, I've seen worse. I really want to like this game, I enjoy the mechanics but I cannot play nor recommend it when the game has graphical issues ever since i bought it. more precisely the image appears both darker (like the illumination is broken) but at the same time every object is super grainy and overexposed and it's undersaturated, nothing like in the images. I really do not have anything special set up from the nvidia app or drivers.
