Ceiba is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book was slapped together with the godawfully bad RenPy Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit, so just like no professional writing took place here, no professional game development took place either, it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit. This e-book has a familiar subject... yes, it's a high school anime club dropout fan-fiction from Russia, with garbled translation, and the topic is the authors imaginary girlfriend, who is an astronaut. This game is similar to Wirion's previous visual novel, Athanasy, but not as dark. The story has philosophical themes and some unexpected twists. The girls are lovely. It is kind of short for a VN, but also concise, and doesn't drag on and waste your time. There are some pretty neat Sci-Fi concepts explored in it too. I enjoyed it.

This was a good VN with an interesting world and characters. Nice art style and very creative story, with some twists. It was on the short side but is fairly inexpensive so still worth it in my opinion. As others have noted, the English translations in the game are actually better than the ones shown in the preview video and screenshots, which must be from an earlier draft. There are no english voiceovers but the english text is well written.

Don't know why I had wishlisted this at some point, especially since I'm not really a visual novel person. While rather short, Ceiba is a very pleasant and captivating experience, especially in its final act. Everyone wearing skintight bodysuits is also very nice I like 👍
