About Virtual Arctic Expedition

Virtual Arctic Expedition is a virtual reality experience involving up to 8 people simultaneously (in a same Local Area Network). The users are immersed together in the same virtual environment. They find themselves in the Arctic seabed where everyone embodies a scuba diver.

This 15-minutes journey makes the users travel in time through 4 different scenes:
 • The base, a tutorial which explain how to interact with the virtual world;
 • the sector 1 in 1950, a specific spot in the Arctic, 20 meters below the sea level;
 • the time capsule which teleports the users 150 years later;
 • the sector 1 in 2100, a projection of what the Arctic see could look like in a near future.

Meet whales, belugas, orcas and giant jellyfishes in Virtual Arctic Expedition. Discover the Arctic seabed and learn what is at stakes today in this environment.

This content was elaborated and validated with marine biology scientists. It is accurate, ethical and intended for all audiences.

An enjoyable and somewhat scary look at the ocean in the Arctic and what lives beneath and what will be living beneath with global climate change. The Blu but with mp, much more interesting and with a awareness of what we are doing to the Earth and it's other inhabitants. Highly recommend. Video review: https://youtu.be/15EEGjE4E68
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/eZOR-yk3BO8 This a 15 minute mostly cinematic virtual reality experience. There are really only two interactions. You have a laser pointer which you can use to point at things (and get some factoids on those objects which are interactive) and you have a camera to take selfies or take low quality photos of objects around, including marine life & vegetation. Room-scale is required to start the experience. You have to reach the start button. That's the only time you'll use your room-scale. I'm not kidding. They actually thought that was a good idea. So most of the experience is just scripted events where a narrator will tell you about global warming and the effect of the that on this particular oceanic life. It was all stuff that I was already aware of, but it is illustrated here with a look at present conditions as well as the possible near future impact on oceanic life. The visuals are mediocre, not great like in theBlu. However, unlike other games with this level of graphics, you can't swim around or interact with items in a meaningful or creative way. In th…

Game doesn't work at all- I have the Rift S, I spawn in a room with my hands in front of me- none of the buttons do anything, I'm unable to move around and the panel to get started is outside the edge of my house, so I cannot reach it. If I could refund, I would.

I like this. An objective look at the way global warming might effect the arctic. Don't worry, no-one is preaching or ramming anything down our throats here.

This is the perfect experience to make people understand the consequences of global warming. I was amazed by the realism of the animals (I almost catched a marine crab!!) and really frightened by the scientists predictions. The VR interactions are perfectly calibrated and the narration is really captivating. I highly recommend this application.

this is quite a nice piece as an educational tool for people wanting to know some of the realities that could become obvious if we dont address climate change. However the quality of the actual fish , scenery etc needs to be clearer , maybe you would look at the people who made 'The Blu' . That has a silent message on the wonders of marine life , now if you could polish your demo with that then you really would have a winner. Good Job and definitely a thumbs up sky
