About Retchid

Retchid is an immersive, atmospheric, and methodically paced First Person Shooter, containing some cosmic horror influences and a pinch of Mesoamerican themes. The game has intense and visceral combat combined with exploration and light puzzle solving.

Retchid is being built by a small, passionate team of Indie developers with over 50 years of combined industry experience working in AAA, who are committed to delivering a fun and engaging game experience.

You're a TEC Engineer from Earth on a mission to a Mining Facility on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. The Mining Facility is run by the Terra Excavation Corp (TEC), who have discovered something nefarious deep below Titan's surface.

Their research on this discovery is classified and has been placed into an offline encrypted data module deep within the Mining Facility. Your orders are to retrieve and return the classified research data and the encryption keys and return to Earth.

But, when you arrive on Titan, you realise you’re the only human alive. Fight through deadly enemies across multiple worlds to complete your mission and escape Titan.
Play through over 20 non-linear levels split across 3 episodes, full of atmosphere, exploration, and puzzle solving.
Each level has been hand-crafted to create a unique experience that is reminiscent of level design philosophies from older generation games.

Explore to discover secrets, find collectibles, weapon and suit upgrades, and find PDAs to learn what happened at the TEC Mining facility.

With 10 different weapons at your disposal, you can mix and match weapons to do maximum damage to your enemies.

Each weapon can be upgraded 2-3 times allowing you to use a secondary firing mode, changing the flow of combat. The players suit can also be upgraded with various upgrades, including larger armor capacity and ammo capacity.

Use the Personal Data Assistant to track various items:
 • Collect TEC employee PDAs to read Emails and Logs about what took place at the facility
 • The equipment tab keeps track of all your weapons and suit upgrades
 • Keep track of your current Primary and Secondary Objectives
 • Various collectibles that are collected in the PDA can be read about
 • All your favourite gameplay stats are tracked and stored in the Stats tab such as kills, player deaths, health packs found, ammo found, etc.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's DOOM 3-inspired atmosphere, cool monster design, and the developer's active support with regular updates, though they note it's still in rough shape with missing features like a map. Common criticisms include janky controls and mouse sensitivity issues, low-quality assets with little environmental detail, a steep price for an early-stage product, and overall polish that feels unfinished compared to what it's being priced at.

I'd say this is the poor-man's DOOM 3, but DOOM 3 is priced lower than this game. That's not to say this is any worse of a game for it as it's clearly inspired by DOOM 3. the bigger differences here being that instead of Mars it takes place on one of Saturn's moons, Titan. And instead of doing all the build-up like in DOOM 3, the station you arrive in is already in disarray. Sadly this isn't my cup of tea as I wasn't a huge fan of DOOM 3, and this game feels a bit more janky in its movement and controls compared to DOOM 3 (no mouse smoothing to be found and lowering sensitivity didn't help as it felt like the mouse was either too fast at 3, and too slow at 2 out of a slider of 10.) I'd say it's worth a buy, maybe at a discounted price.

...low quality product with reused assets and little detail in the environment ( like small objects etc ) and also non-interactable....can't comment to much on the enemies - they looked to much like plastic dolls! ***check out Syndrome if you want a really good sci-fi/hooror indie experience https://store.steampowered.com/app/409320/Syndrome/

Doom 3 with a touch of Lovecraft There are plenty of "throwback shooters" inspired by the original *Doom* or the more recent entries in the series, but rarely by Doom 3—a game that featured slower-paced gameplay and focused heavily on lighting, shadows, and horror elements. *Retchid* changes that; it boasts a visual style strikingly similar to its inspiration and relies just as heavily on lighting and shadow effects. Like the BFG Edition, the flashlight here is shoulder-mounted. As in the original game, you occasionally open airlocks to traverse short distances across the planet's surface. In terms of narrative, there is little to no traditional plot; instead, you piece together what happened at the facility on Titan through collectible PDA entries. However, the enemies—of which there are unfortunately few—draw inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft. The game is currently in Early Access, meaning only the first episode (comprising seven levels) is complete, with episodes 2 and 3 to follow later. While the game closely emulates Doom 3, it also inherits its weaknesses. You spend most of your time navigating dark corridors, which can lead to disorientation—especially when searching for a sa…

Even tho the game still needs a lot programming and stuff (like a map for example) I had a lot of fun fighting through the hordes of it. Is the price steep? Yeah i would say so, because it's still very rough and there are still bugs and not a lot of story at all. But the developer is pretty active and gives out a lot of updates, so it's def. not abandoned. But because of the roughness I'm gonna wait a bit more to play it again. Still. It looks good, the design is cool, the monsters are quite fun. Reminds me a bit of Doom.
