Boat Crew

This game is amazing, kudo's to the devs for making something cool and off beat in todays hellscape of AAA flops.

TLDR; this is the perfect game if you want to assemble your own vessel to wreck havoc in a war campaign that actually responds to your impact. It's a simple premise that's been attempted time and time again, but i haven't seen any other game nail this as well what's on display here. For what's offered here, a solid 9/10. [h2] Ship combat/moment to moment Gameplay [/h2] If you've ever played "bomber crew" (or the other games like it), the gameplay/controls should be extremely familiar. Even as naval combat is naturally clunkier than regular ground/air combat, the action is always apparent when your in a battle. You get to really feel the weight of the ships movement and weapons at work. Your PT boat may (most of the time) be faster than the other ships in the area so that you can dominate hit-and-run style, you still have to be careful when fighting the bigger ships because they will absolutely wreck you if they line up a shot on you. Controls are responsive and you never feel like a situation was lost due to something outside of your control i.e. bugs. On top of that, if you do find yourself in a bad situation, you can call in additional support that can turn the tide. [h2]…

Decent learning curve, but fun.

At the time of this review, the game is in early access and I found it through word of mouth. Boat Crew is, as expected, fairly bare bones at the moment with a very simple, but functional campaign and a decent variety of boats. I'm including a review here just hoping this might reach others. The worst thing about the game as it currently stands is that I want more. Much more. Hopefully in time we will see things like a deeper and more extensive campaign, some sort of risk/reward to venturing out, a deeper stealth system, more missions, and customizable allied PT boats in your formation. Again, this game is still early access and I am very happy with all that I currently see. The game is good and is a fantastic proof of concept with a very fun premise. If the idea of ambushing a carrier at night, only to run away and see the satisfying impact of a good torpedo strike, or weaving between battle lines in your small but fast ship, launching torpedos on flanking attacks sounds fun to you, I can't recommend the game enough. If the devs see this, keep doing what you are doing. This game currently stands to be a very capable and ambitious title. Even as is, it's been worth the 25 dollar…
