love the game honestly, i feel some of the reviews are a bit harsh the game does have some issues definitely but I don't think its quite as bad as some of the reviews say, and some of them are just skill issues lol and I don't think the UI is bad I found it pretty clear besides a few buttons not being labeled , also not being able to access settings unless at main menu was slightly annoying at first. Modding community is fantastic too, the full pacific campaign is something to experience if you have some patience

HARDCODED UI BUG RUINS FLEET COMMAND — AND WON'T BE FIXED I really wanted to enjoy War on the Sea, but the gunnery and targeting UI completely ruins the experience when commanding more than one ship. Whenever you give a single ship an order on the control panel—such as changing ammo types (AP/HE), setting gun spreads, or toggling spot fire—the game forces that exact command onto EVERY SINGLE SHIP in your active fleet, regardless of which individual ship you actually have selected. Trying to have one cruiser fire AP ammo at a warship while your destroyers use HE on a smaller target or spot fire elsewhere is impossible because the interface broadcasts orders globally. I checked every possible solution and workaround, only to discover this is a known issue built deep into the game's core code. Because updates for the underlying game engine and UI systems have completely stopped, this behavior is permanent and will never be patched or overhauled by the developers. The only way to avoid constantly fighting the interface is to leave your fleet on "Fire At Will" auto-fire and only control movement, which defeats the entire purpose of detailed fleet micromanagement. If you are looking …

I PERSONALLY LOVE THIS GAME! There's a lot of things you can see in this game realistically, such as the movement of water, automatic enemy aircraft prioritizes to attack your main ships in your fleet (Aircraft Carriers, Battleships, etc), Explosions effects, Dogfights, Dud torpedoes, receiving inaccurate enemy sightings positions from your patrol aircrafts, which is by the way that actually happens sometimes during the war in the pacific, and many more. However, i just wanted to suggest something, it might be better if it can allocate more fleet of ships at the same time than just one, and also if when ships get bombed or torpedoed, it would also looked realistically damaged, not just on fire. I hope for upcoming updates would get more better!

It runs fairly well on my laptop. I would recommend it to my friends but they don't enjoy naval combat much.

War on the sea was a pleasant surprise as I generally like the pacific theater history and I've seen all the movies. It seems to be well thought out - initially - but in practice it has gotten a few things very wrong, especially regarding AI and doctrines. To mention some of the great stuff, the graphics are lovely, the damage models are quite good. One can really feel the struggle of the sailors to put out fires on ships, the fires can spread and cause magazine explosions, this stuff is awesome. It can make me watch the ship burning for 5 minutes and actually enjoy it (the first couple of times). The campaign gameplay is also quite engaging although this is where things start to feel a little weird, along a couple of in-mission tweaks that could help the grind of having to sink hundreds of enemy ships. I don't enjoy the submarine spam, as well as how the enemies are so aggressive. Therefore this is the first game I actually tried to mod myself and to bring it to some kind of state that campaign AI won't totally suck. My results were actually quite good in that regard, so I think I might continue to try and improve it myself.
