Skaramazuzu

I played the demo a few years ago and liked it enough to wishlist the full game (I wish more devs left the demo up after the full release). The gameplay is mostly a chain of fetch quests with a few puzzles and lots of dialogue. There are a few typos here and there, but I don't expect perfection from small game devs. The story is sort of vague and leaves a lot of interpretation up to the player.

[b]"Skaramazuzu" is a puzzle game that explores a strange limbo between life and death, wrapped in a mysterious atmosphere. Technically, it holds up well with its minimalist hand-drawn visuals, eerie ambiance, and quirky voice work. However, beyond aesthetics, the experience quickly unravels. The puzzles are uninspired, the dialogue repetitive and shallow, the characters forgettable, and the pacing frustrating. There are also some problematic mechanics and too much of slow annoying walking in the same ten screens for the whole game. Despite an intriguing concept, the game fails to deliver a meaningful or engaging experience. I rarely give harsh reviews to small indie projects, but "Skaramazuzu" ultimately left me bored both in gameplay and storytelling. A game about existential searching should at least offer an engaging journey; instead, this one drifts aimlessly, never quite finding its purpose. August 12th here in Thailand is Mother's Day, which will arrivesoon enough. Such befitting coincidence. You know, this game offers not much. Same old stuff: walking around, commuting between different maps, aiding NPCs for key items, etc. etc. Nothing so impressive. The in-game voices definitely got on my nerves. I considered muting it all, but again I just want to immerse in the experience as this game intended. Sooo... I bore with it. And after like a few quarters, you just got used to it. Again, this game is not one of my faves. But I must admit, soft animal as I am, I don't have the heart to rate it down. The story is... well... not that much of a... Hard to put into words, especially if you don't want to sound too harsh. There is something there, yes. And like one of the Guardians mentioned, "admirable." So, vote up, I guess. This is not an AAA game and the end credit lasts less than half a minute because the dev team is simply that small so I think it's fair enough. Not to mention it cost practically nothing when you bought it during sales.

If you enjoy point and click style puzzle games, this is a little one that is a pleasant time. The amazing artwork helps add to the environment and the story.

it's a cute little game that might be a little on the short side for some. Skaramzuzu has lovely art work, very interesting content regardint life/death/kindness. give it a try, it's absolutely worth it to support the devs :)

The part with all the dialogue felt a bit exhausting, but overall, it was a fun puzzle game with a great atmosphere and story.
