About Sunshine Shuffle

Sunshine Shuffle is a narrative poker adventure featuring talking animals with criminal pasts and adorable outfits! Play Texas Hold 'Em with the remaining members of the 'Morning Shift', a group of working-class creatures turned would-be Robin Hoods who crossed the Fishie Mob, and mostly lived to tell the tale. Unravel the story of how the largest bank on the Eastern Seaboard was robbed in a single afternoon as you play. Win hands to earn tokens and decorate the S.S. Sunshine with new light fixtures, chairs, card decks, and more. And try to boogie to the game's vibrant, wiggle-inducing original ska soundtrack as you stare into the cold eyes of a 12 year-old kitten with nothing left to lose.

FEATURING

  • A fusion of poker and narrative adventure, with a story that unfolds as you play!
  • Deep neo-noir story told with style, care, and the pain of hindsight.
  • Unlockable conversations that further reveal the story of the Morning Shift, and their lives before and after forming the infamous heist crew.
  • Rewards for careful strategy that let you decorate the S.S. Sunshine your way; with plastic skeletons and fish bowls and a dice-themed carpet; as the universe intended.
  • Original ska soundtrack from acclaimed musicians Skatune Network and RJ Lake!
  • A seadog with an eyepatch named Fidelius.

i am thankful this is a relatively short game, because it fails at the two things it sets out to do: -the visual novel aspect is, for the most part, uninteresting. the characters are layered, but the text speed (even on fast) and the way the information is doled out to you (the actual _pacing_ of the story) drain it of any intrigue. it ends up just distracting from the poker. which you think this game would need, because... -the poker element in this game sucks. i love me some texas hold 'em, i have for a long time, so this game is absolutely teeth-gnashing in how bad it is. no way to customize your raises, no going all-in to push your opponents. and the AI... as other reviews have said, it's awful. it's best to just turtle, and if you have something, just push hard until everyone either folds despite sinking half their stacks into a pot. once you realize the AI is kind of a crapshoot instead of actually playing good poker, you can start winning tournaments with no challenge at all. the character designs are cute, the setting is neat, and Billy is my dude (he seems like the only competent poker AI at the table). but for the most part, this game doesn't succeed at what it sets out…

A casual poker game with animals on sea as you listen in on their lives and what lead to them robbing a bank while trying to cut a deal with them to help them not get killed by the mafia. If anything, this is more of a visual novel with the poker game being used to give you something to do. Its quite the interesting mix of genres that goes for a more light hearted feel. The vibe is very chill and the story is surprisingly deep if you take the time to read through it. There isn't much stakes compared to other poker games, but its a nice change of pace and atmosphere, and the customization options are a nice addition to the cycle. Its less about the gameplay and more of the story which does hold itself well. Its not too bad of a game to experience, but I would recommend you catch this game at a discount.

If you're looking for a stellar poker game, this won't scratch that itch. The UI is fine, but I've seen better. The AI, while having different playstyles, is overall straightforward. And the only real consequence between winning and loosing is how quickly you can buy the cosmetics. Mechanically, Sunshine Shuffle is a very simple game. But to be fair, it kind of has to be? Sunshine Shuffle is not a poker game. In essence, it is a visual novel in which you happen to play poker while listening to how four creatures (and one unrelated kid) turned to a life of crime, pulled off a giant bank heist against an infamous mob, and how they've been dealing with the aftermath. Heck, the player character isn't even here to win money. You play as a private investigator that already put together the WHO and is trying to figure out the WHY. Fortunately, the story is quite good! The cute and cozy exterior is contrasted nicely with the dark turn the majority of conversations take, while never getting so bleak that you stop caring. There is a solid amount of twists and turns as the characters open up about themselves and their life of crime, and I was engaged throughout. These critters are flawed b…

It's an okay game i guess. I got all trophies. The story isnt that interesting. You should be able to go ALL IN if you have a good hand but NOPE this game wont let you do it unless you start running out of chips or the computer player does, when you or somebody else raises and the players has less than the amount raised, then that becomes the only time when you or someone else goes all in. The other time they go ALL In is when they throw money in for the small and big blind and thats the only money they got left. i could say more but i'll leave it at that. i'd give MIXED if steam had the option but im giving it a thumbs down
