✦ AI summary
Players have mixed reactions to this platformer. Those who enjoy it praise the atmospheric music, narration, and chill yet fair level design that creates an engaging experience, while critics complain about poor controls, imprecise mechanics (particularly air momentum and diagonal movement), repetitive dialogue, and a short campaign that doesn't justify the price. The game seems to appeal most to players seeking a relaxed, atmospheric experience rather than tight precision platforming.
Getting over it with Frisk Undertale3 found this helpful
So boring. It even tells you at the start: "some things are better left undone" Spent about 4 minutes and realized yep the disembodied voice is right. This "game" is trash lol.
Back Again is an uneven, sometimes interesting, poorly-coded, poorly-controlled "video game" with above average music and sometimes interesting. I hesitated between a recommendation or not because the author clearly knew the pricepoint well. As I said, it's sometimes interesting, some jumps are good, but overall, weak controls, short duration, repetitive and uninteresting dialog holds it back. For instance, the gamedev clearly didn't understand air momentum, the key in a game like that. Your air jumps stop too fast, too quickly. He also hasn't mastered the pythagorean theorem, which is obvious when you do diagonal movements with speed. Speaking of speed, you never quite know when you get that and it ends abruptly. You will think you are doing a speed-powerup jump, only to have the speed stop a second before, making you fall. This required levels, a few more checkpoints and a better story. Sorry. 5/10
Ok, fair enough
Very chill platforming game. I found that the levels were fair and the game controlled very well during the time that I played it. The gameplay, while challenging at times felt very relaxed and doable, but the music and the atmosphere did a very good job of setting the mood and helping in ramping up the anxiousness during the gameplay in some situations. I haven't tried the survival mode yet, but the main mode of the game was nice and short and a good way to pass the time. The music and the narration were really good! I might try out the harder mode later when I get the chance.
Fire platforming game, trippy in the best way possible. It's just something you gotta play through and experience yourself.
