About Sword Princess Amaltea - The Visual Novel

In a fairy tale world where the Queens rule with the power of magic, the princesses are sent out to rescue the princes in need!

Princess Amaltea is sent out on this quest, and rescues Prince Ossian. They are both unwilling to play along in these traditional expectations of them, and after fleeing their own wedding they are now out on the open roads – on to new adventures in this gender flipped world!

This Visual Novel game is a stand-alone sequel to the manga Sword Princess Amaltea, made by the Swedish manga artist Natalia Batista. The manga trilogy is published in USA, Sweden, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic and has also been made into a pen and paper RPG book.

Sword Princess Amaltea – The Visual Novel lets you imagine a very different fantasy setting from the eyes of both Amaltea and Ossian, as the game has parallel story lines and makes you choose which one of them to follow! Thus, the game can be played multiple times to discover alternative paths and at least five different endings. To find all paths, the full game will take around a total of 28 hours, spanning across the multiple branching stories.

Well that was..sadly not that good. Pretty expensive for so little, i would not recommend this.

Excellent visual novel that goes beyond the usual dating sim trope and introduces a narrative gameplay loop instead. Fully voice acted which I find very enjoyable as it made me feel more connected with the story. The art is great as well as the story. Lot's of twists and turns which leads to several "Oh noes!" moments. With an average playtime of a bit more than an hour I felt it was a very nice amount of time for one playthrough. And with several different endings I can see myself doing another playthrough during a lunch break. Highly recommended!

It's a visual novel set in your typical fairytale medieval setting... but with the gender roles flipped. Women are the ones fighting and leading, while men stay at home (not always obediently, of course). Great for some light reading, and the voice acting is a nice bonus. The art style is a mix of shoujo and shounen. You can explore different paths of the story by playing as Amaltea or Ossian*. They're fairly likeable characters, and though Amaltea can be a little grating at times, she's got her moments. I appreciate the VN's efforts to be more diverse than other worlds like it. It's a little short for its price, so I recommend buying it when it's on sale. But if you enjoyed it, I recommend buying the comics too (and reading Egalia's Daughters). Would love to see a continuation of the story whether in comic or VN form. *or Amaltea's horse.
You will meet a sad unicorn.
This is very, very short, and not particularly good. I regret backing it on Kickstarter, since there really is no substance to this.
