About Riftborne

Riftborne is a slow, long-form sci-fi strategy game built around patience, planning, and scale. The enemies adapt to your play style over time, and even across new game saves. You begin with a single base. That grows into a network of colonies, fleets, supply lines, defenses, contracts, and political influence. Early progress is small and deliberate. Later, the game opens into logistics, faction conflict, economic pressure, territorial control, and rival powers that have had time to grow into serious threats. This is not a fast campaign. A run can unfold over weeks or months as your empire develops.Riftborne is aimed at players who enjoy learning a dense system, building momentum slowly, and seeing small decisions matter much later. If you want constant action, rapid unlocks, or a campaign built to be finished in a weekend, this probably will not be your kind of game.

Key Features

  • Slow-burn empire building across long campaigns
  • Deep logistics, economy, production, and storage management
  • Terminal-style HUD built for dense strategic information
  • Procedural galaxy generation with meaningful geography
  • Faction politics, diplomacy, and military pressure at galactic scale
  • Contracts, markets, and economic systems that support different playstyles
  • Campaign history, rankings, medals, and long-run progression tracking

Absolutely a recommend on any kind of sale, if you're into console games or want a lite, more casual version of a game like Aurora 4x, get it at full price. TL;DR: It's a real time version of Stellar Monarch (A.k.a. Pocket Space Empire), if you've played that. If not, it's a fairly casual, slow playing 4x with a good amount of depth, once you know where to look. It's well built and uses a time skip system that makes it a really fun game, which can be as fast paced as you can handle or as slow paced as you'd like. The multiplayer would probably be a fun way to kill a weekend, while you watch movies or something, but the single player itself is really good. Longer: It's pretty much exactly what it looks like - a somewhat abstracted 4x game spent waiting for timers to count down. The latter may seem a little off-putting and "cell phone idle game", but really, "accumulating resources, then building things" is all that is actually happening, and kind of the actual gameplay loop, in pretty much any 4x. Instead of giving you "4 turns left for this to build" or "50% done", the game just straight up tells you "it's gonna take you 1 hour to get enough resources for this thing, at this rat…

TLDR at 5.2 (EDIT fixed this) hrs; Looks like TradeWars2k, plays like GalCiv (with economic stuff I haven't even touched on). -- Do you like 4x space games in the vein of Galactic Civilization or Star Control? in slow realtime? More importantly, would you like to play those games via a text console interface that will have you feeling like you're a NOC op at any given university at 3am in 1995? but without changing tapes? Be perfectly aware, this isn't just simulating a command prompt execution, it is literally opening in your OS"s console terminal. If so, this game might be for you. The tutorial is short and indicative of the gameplay. The official server is popping at this time, we'll see how that persists. Time advance in single player is really useful and makes it feel more turn based. Playing true realtime on multiplayer is like a slow-motion ballet of human wills being executed and charted in ASCII. Don't let the idea of it being in realtime throw you off. It doesn't take long until some of the core upgrades take long enough or need enough resources that the initial burst necessarily slows down. You will be able to set up production queues, and fleet destina…

This is the game I've been waiting a long time for, and it meets any expectations that I might have had. The UI could maybe be a little more tidy for newcomers, but after the first day I know where everything is. The in-game chat and Discord channel are super helpful, and I'm thankful for the good people who were eager to lend a hand.

Highly recommended if you're willing to do some reading and you know what you're getting yourself into. But clearly not for everyone.

I joined the multiplayer world after doing most of the tutorial (it bugged at some point) so far i like it even though i'm lost af. Don't know how managing a lot of outposts and colonies will look like - with my current knowledge probably like hell EDIT: Multiplayer is very fun even though I wish the map was bit bigger(next round maybe) and I like that we can also play singleplayer BUT the current AI is very dumb, they sit on full storage, don't really expand other than 2-3 outposts and maybe a colony and are mass producing light ships super early game instead of investing in eco
