About Lord of Rigel

Lord of Rigel is a grand space strategy adventure, guide your people through a galaxy in turmoil. Form coalitions to survive the coming war, or discover the secrets of ascension that the elder races fear. Your race will have many obstacles to overcome if they are to survive.
Inspired by classic 4x games and 90s science fiction, Lord of Rigel focuses on reducing late game micromanagement with its colony focus system and other automation tools. Or you can choose to get your hands dirty in real time tactical combat.
Face rival species, including the elder races who view themselves as the rightful guardians of the galaxy. Fend off grand menaces as they attempt to disrupt and direct progress, and gain prestige by defending the galaxy against those who would destroy it.
Shape galactic politics by negotiating trade treaties and alliances. Each species has unique leaders with personalities and cultural traditions that direct their choices. Guide or exploit weaker civilizations to become assets or weapons.
Run a shadow empire and benefit from your spy network through sabotaging fleets, bombing infrastructure, stealing technology, creating the “right” political climate by inciting rebellions.
Design starships and engage in pausable real time tactical combat. From small frigates to planet-killing behemoths, you can upgrade your vessels with beams, fighters, missiles, and more. Use combinations of special systems and weapons to defeat your enemies.
Play as one of 10 available species, each with unique characteristics and behaviors. Use diplomacy, espionage, real time ship combat, and research to define a path for your civilization or join one of the elder races as they fight for control.

Great clone of Master of Orion 2. Some things like population management have been simplified, but the rest is still here with new... slightly more balanced races. The real time combat cannot be changed, but the developer is VERY interactive, and he added in an autopause button like Master of Orion Conquer the Stars had after I suggested it, giving the combat a turn based feel for me personally. Speaking of, the developer has been hammering away at this game, and the performance has improved considerably since launch. As a space 4x game junkie, I've played them all. In comparison to Stellaris, or Galciv IV, this game feels less complex, the upside is that games like this and MoO have a much faster pace, making for very quick turns, and getting into the good stuff faster. In comparison to the other MoO clones like Interstellar Space Genesis and Stars in Shadow, this game is a bit closer to MoO and innovates a bit less. Currently this game and IS:G stay in my rotation. This one is a bit easier on my brain after work. Overall an excellent clone that had a rough launch. If you want innovation, this game isn't for you. What it does do, is what it says on the tin, and quite well…

Very amateurish. Graphics should be better than MOO2 and their not. Game gets boring quick. If you are looking for a MOO2 clone, interstellar Space: Genesis is better.

Well, i caught it on sale, so I'm not returning it. Its no MOO game. It tries, but it needs some serious attention. I guess its one of those games i will wait to see if it gets an update or some dlc. The game needs a few more tweaks to customization. You really can't name anything, including yourself. Character customization is not finished. The game would benefit by being open to modding, as modders could fix and modify this into a really great game. I'm disappointed, as i really liked the idea behind this game. MOO.

Performance issues. After about turn 200, it starts lagging and everything slows down to a crawl. Do not recommend! I tried rebooting the game and trying smaller and smaller galaxy sizes, but this is a bug that makes gameplay unbearable! DO NOT BUY! Not even on discount! Playing this game will only make you frustrated at the money and time spent on it
