About Flightpath

Flightpath is a beginner-friendly, top-down shooter with a unique story driven mechanic. As you battle your way through waves of enemies, you will be presented with two possible paths to move forward. Depending which path you take, the story changes, and with it how the game itself unfolds, which missions follow up, who will you meet and how the ending changes.

Welcome to Venaris, a small planetary system where an underground criminal organization known only as the Syndicate continuously terrorizes its citizens while corrupt planetary administrations and system forces are ineffectual at bringing the organization down.

Three unrelated individuals have decided to take matters into their own hands: Katherine “Kath” McKenzie, a mechanical engineer who spends most of her time tinkering with spaceships; A.J., a disgraced ex-detective who was framed for a crime the Syndicate committed; and Maxine “Max” Speed, a professional aeroracer.

After running into the Syndicate's dirty business, each vows to take down the organization and find their leader, a secretive and shady figure that goes by "The Chairman", and bring him to justice.

Our goal is for Flightpath to be a casual, story-driven experience with action elements. Flightpath is about the player making choices. In certain stages, you will be presented with two possible paths to take. The choices you make change the sequence of events from that point forward and tell a different story.

You can choose to blow up a bunch of the Syndicate's stuff to hamper their schemes, or you can break off to chase down an escaping villain for information on The Chairman's plot. Or you could take on the big bad boss of the area and get one step closer to taking down the Syndicate, but this means not rescuing your kidnapped dearest friend!

You will guide your choice of character on their quest to stop The Chairman, and your decisions will alter how the story unfolds through each stage, and each character has their own story. Different player choices change the flow of the story, what characters you meet and bosses you fight, and even the ending!

Since each character's storyline has multiple paths, we know replayability is important. While Flightpath is a top-down shoot ’em up, it is not a bullet-hell shooter. Instead of predetermined, synchronized attacks, enemies spawn and attack patterns are procedurally generated to keep the mayhem unpredictable and fun. The stages are also built procedurally to keep things fresh whether it's your second or thirty-second run!

And it's not just about shooting! In some stages you'll have a specific task, such as rescuing someone, blowing up the Syndicate's stuff, recovering important items from the Syndicate, or taking down a boss to really damage the Syndicate's schemes.

Fight your way through ten unique stage locations and decide your path to victory!

An OK shooter buried by a lot of curious and tedious decisions. It's a story-based game, not score-based, so that's a big mistake off the bat. The point is to complete levels as well as side missions, but 99% of the genre's games have been score-based for a good reason. You can't really get better at this game, or compete against others, you just read the awful story and shoot until you get to the end of the level. Why ever replay this? The upgrade system seems neat at first but you'll hit the wall before long as even with the best generator you can't install all the best weapons, and so you'll have thousands of dollars with nothing to spend it on. Did I mention there's story text and pop-ups *during* the shooting action? Ouch. Throw away the story and make this score-based and it's decent. As it is it's a bit of a chore. 6/10

I enjoyed this game, although the gameplay is a little basic in some respects. I'm a casual enjoyer of shooters where you can upgrade your ship, you've got shields and a larger hitbox, there's a story, and the game isn't too difficult (at least on the base difficulty). I was happy to see this game, because it seems like the genre has mostly gone towards difficult bullet-hell games. Anyway, this Flightpath has pretty decent gamplay, good art and "fine but not groundbreaking" writing for the story, and the endless mode is a fun on spin making a roguelite shooter instead of the traditional arcade mode. I do wish there was a bit more variety in the upgrades. Tyrian 2000 is the classic of this style of game, and one of the great things about it is the variety of weapons - where in Flightpath there's really only 3 distinct types of weapon (with upgraded/stronger versions in each). I would recommend this game if you want a casual/beginner-friendly shooter with a story, or you enjoy Tyrian 2000.

pretty fun game with multiple endings depends on your choices, the weapon selections are prettynice too and being able to mix match them can make a gameplay easy or challenging

A simple, but fun side scrolling star ship shooter with fun visuals, cute characters, and catchy music.

Enjoyable, albeit very short shoot 'em up with a forgettable story. Some players might find it too easy but for a shoot 'em up newbie like me, it was challenging enough. The story is there, but that's all that can be said about it. The branching storyline is an interesting idea, but it's executed poorly. Your choices won't influence the ending in a meaningful way and if you're unlucky, you can unintentionally skip some boss fights, which are probably the best this game has to offer. Flightpath's biggest flaw is how short it is. It feels more like a first episode than a complete game. You barely get a chance to try out some of the weapons and upgrades, before you reach the final level. The game clearly expects you to replay it multiple times to explore different story branches, but at the same time, doesn't make it interesting enough for you to care. That being said, it's an OK game. Not worth the full price, but worth checking out if discounted.
