Chasm: The Rift

A relic from the past with impressive features compared to its time. And definitely worth playing if you like old-school games.

[h1]Rating[/h1] 6/10 [h1]Intro[/h1] It gets by with its unique setting and premise, that I'm sure TimeSplitters would later be inspired by. Otherwise, the level design is a big knock against the game. But at least it doesn't overstay its welcome. [h1]Positives[/h1] + Mod support. + Good soundtrack. + Good weapon variety. + Weapons have good impact. + Good aesthetics and graphics. It differentiates itself from Quake enough. + Bosses have unique weaknesses that don't only involve shooting them repeatedly. [h1]Negatives[/h1] - Level design has plenty of backtracking and switches that don't tell you what they do. - Some enemies don't react to you doing damage to them and have no problem plowing through to do their attack moves. - Mandatory damage. Unless there's a radiation suit I missed, there's a few moment where you need to take damage to progress. I'm not talking about a little damage, I mean a good chunk of it.

great game, was only able to find half the secrets without a guide. reccomend playing on hard, extra levels are fun but mostly just super tanky enemies. old school cult classic.

This game may not be for everyone, but this can never be recreated perfectly. Ive only see one game capture the feeling of this game and that is HROT. This game is so impressive for not 3d game (the remaster is 3d rendered). Weapons are amazing, gibbs are amazing, sounds and atmosphere are pretty good, the models and everything else is great, the art style and the animations, this game looks much better than quake imo. Didnt have any problems beating the game or glitches, level 11 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying but if you know how to beat the encounters then its okay. Expansion is dissapointing and super short but the boss is cool ig. Overall not the best game ever but a cult classic that deserves all the love it gets. The mapping community is not that creative :( so you wont find any great maps online, they work at least and mapping tool is easy to use. Its not a long game at all so i recco... no 20$ is too much...

A middle of the road shooter without much to differentiate itself from the pack. Similair weapons, enemies, story, maps and gimicks. Still worth it if you can catch it on a good sale though.
