Carnal's that game you play when your friend invited you over to hang out a long long time ago and he showed you some custom Quake levels he'd been working on. There's a fun kind of polished amateur feeling to it when it comes to the presentation, which really endeared me to it. It's just a bit rough around the edges, but a lot of fun, creativity and passion shines through. I even feel a bit of Duke Nukem sneaking in there too with how mundane locations like a neighborhood or a grocery store are transformed and translated into the game through a filter of dark retro style while still having a good sense of humour. As for the game itself, it's solid and very Quake-like as you can tell from the trailer and screenshots. If you've enjoyed the earlier Quakes as well as any of the more modern retro-styled games that have come out after it, then I think you'll definitely enjoy it! While Carnal may not have the polish and depth as something like DUSK, I still feel it's a worthy addition to my retro FPS collection, especially when it's as cheap as it is (and even moreso when its on sale). I all around agree with the handful of other reviews that point out that if this were a one episode and done sort of thing it would actually be better. Ep 1 is varied enough and at around 90 minutes at a dollar it would be pretty much perfect. The sight gags are funny, the enemy roster is varied, there's some actual interesting level design the further into Ep 1 you go etc. The issue is Ep 2 and 3 feel so tacked on and frankly lame that it kind of drags the experience down in retrospect. I respect this dev a lot and still recommend the game but in all honesty, play Ep 1 and pretend the game is over in my honest opinion. Recommended.

I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about Carnal. The visuals nail that grungy, late 90s’ - early 00s’ FPS look, it controls pretty well, the soundtrack is solid, (you can even download it as free DLC, which is always appreciated) and there’s a good amount of content for the price. That price being only 99 cents. Carnal is probably one of, if not THE best bargains I have found on this platform (outside of sales events). If you like Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Half-Life 1, Postal 2 and the like, I think you’ll love this.
