INCISION

The good: -The Gigeresque industrial filthy gory biomechanical horror aesthetic is very well done. -Gameplay is fun. Enemies each have well-defined roles; weapons are varied and satisfying. -Level design is excellent; no overreliance on arenas like a lot of modern shooters. -The music is great. Episode 2 has the best music of the game. The bad: -The color palette. I understand the aesthetics of the game demand reds, browns, yellows, and greys, but that's about all you get. Levels blend into each other and don't stand out from one another. The enemies also frequently blur into the environment. Like I said, the overall look and art direction are great, but the lack of visual variety deeply hurts the game. -The weapons sound a little anemic. The shotgun is the biggest offender. Also, the lack of checkpoints and saving took a little bit of getting used to, but even playing on the third highest difficulty I didn't struggle too much. It's just different, and my biggest complaint would be that it makes levels feel like a commitment since they're mostly 20+ minutes each. The game has a bug that lets you go into nuke debt. I owed the game -1 nukes. Would recommend.

This is a good game. There are no quick saves. At first, being old school Quake player, I have expected that there is fall damage, there isn't. You can't really die from falling. You can die if falling and getting swarmed by enemies but not from falling. Hasn't happened for me yet. Enemies vary which is good. Every weapon is good, revolver for example can quickly fire all six rounds, quite useful, like long range sniper. You need to move. Not just move, you need to strafe left and right. And after about five levels, I have discovered that on SHIFT you can sprint. Ok, now I am just sprinting, I peek in new area, and sprint back and fire at enemies. There are situations where there are open spaces with tons of enemies, but usually there is a power up to kill them easier. Move move move. Standing still is certain death. Levels are dark, bloody and rusted, exactly as they should be. This is like killing enemies in hell levels of Silent Hill. There is enough ammo, enough Second Lives, you cant easily die by falling into something, like lava, it's just persistent small damage received. silent quake

Well, no quicksave, I played on normal difficulty but enemies are too many even in the first level. No checkpoints so far. The revolver spin mechanic could be good if there was time for the third spin. Enemies are bullet spongy and there is not enough ammo. The artstyle is amazing though but not a game for me

Pretty enjoyable boomer shooter FPS which I felt did a pretty good job of actually reminding me of the type of gameplay you got in games like DOOM 1 and 2 and QUAKE. I also got some Serious Sam feels because the game is overall a bit more linear then DOOM and later levels have larger enemy spawns plus arena sections. Episode 1 was the most DOOM like while Episode 2 and 3 lean more Serious Sam like. You have a really large arsenal of weapons that spans the whole number row and throughout the whole game I felt I was actually using all the weapons based on certain situations and enemies. All the weapons (except minigun) had secondary attacks which was cool. And I liked that you pretty much always had ammo for everything, but still needed to manage what you use to better prepare yourself for later parts of a level. Rocket Launcher, Minigun and Super Shotgun all felt great. The standard auto weapon also had a cool overheat system and grenade launcher secondary which was fun. It's not an easy game. There are no checkpoints. You die, you restart the level but it's really fun.
