Sunset Hills

Very conflicted. On on hand, this game absolutely adorable and I fell in love with it, especially in the second half. On the other hand, there IS a weird feeling that parts of it are missing. But if I reframe the game in my mind as something like to a Road Trip movie, I don't mind it as much. Maybe that was their intent. Maybe game development is expensive and content gets cut sometimes. I don't know. What I do know is that I really loved what I played.

The game's art is beautiful, and the story is fun and cozy. I was laughing and even tearing up at some parts. One of the biggest drawbacks is that the English translation leaves much to be desired. Some of the phrasing is odd and sometimes just wrong. I could still understand most of it, but it broke the flow of the game occasionally. The other major drawback is that the text sometimes auto-scrolls without waiting for me to click through. I missed a few important parts of the story because of this. I could still follow along, but I wish I hadn't missed anything. Overall, I love the game and would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun, cozy story to play through.

While story is still unfinished, what's present in the game is great. One of the best uses of 2.5D art I've seen, great story, great soundtrack. There's a really great juxtaposition between the character being a cute puppy, having PTSD flashbacks, and the game's overall themes of post-war. The puzzles are a bit of a hit or miss and feel like a point and click game. Puzzles in the newest chapter are actually a lot easier, but much more improved in my opinion, having way less ambiguity to them.

This game is a work of art. Cosy visuals, an interesting story, and a good puzzle gameplay. It plays in chapter format, with each chapter representing a town the main character Nico visits on his train ride. Ignore the reviews about the game not being complete, each chapter is like a mini story, and even before chapter 3, the game had enough content on chapters 1 and 2. The puzzles are not very hard, providing a more chill experience, however you might encounter some small bugs. The English translation is fine, there are some weird expressions, but I have seen far worse. Completely recommend checking out Sunset Hills

I have really enjoyed the two chapters that are currently availble! The art style is very pretty, with little details to discover everywhere. It is truly a cozy game, as in the puzzles are just hard enough to distract, but you are not left clueless and frustrated much. Sometimes the English translations are a bit rough, but it has not kept me from enjoying the game at all!

It has a healing artistic style. However, the ending feels too rushed and it’s unclear what it is trying to convey.
