Beautiful Cyberpunk Tower Defense!

This fantastic game and more on Hardcore Reviews! ⚡
Beacon of Neyda is a cyberpunk tower defense with a strong identity. Set in a post apocalyptic world where machines rebel against humanity, the story feels very inspired by Terminator, which works well and gives context to the action. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3777762032 Gameplay mixes classic tower defense with active control. You build towers, barricades, and energy networks, but you also move your character, shoot enemies, and collect resources. There are different energy types, drones, and upgrades, making the game deeper than it looks at first. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3777762136 In short the pixelart is one of the best parts. Animations, colors, and overall atmosphere are excellent. Sound and music also help a lot with immersion. It can be challenging and takes time to learn, but it’s very rewarding. A great indie game that deserves more attention. https://youtu.be/QsJIvDTgxsw Thanks for reading!16 found this helpful
I loved the game, it's a fresh new towerdefense-like subgenre. Good: In overall the exploration is fun I loved the feel while shooting (I would appreciate a reload mechanic). The game pushes you to move and to navigate across the map. The art is just great, creates a fantastic feeling and it colaborates to an inmersive experience. Surprising, the game counts with a perfect voice acting, and when is coming from an indie studio it is such a highlight. To improve: The first thing that comes to the top of my head are the controls, they feels clanky and sometimes when in hurry they not colaborate. Overall: Buy it, it's such a great experince with even more huge potential.2 found this helpful
For what this is, it's very enjoyable. To me it seems pretty clearly like a small-scale development with a well-executed idea. There are some QoL and design things that I found to be a bit of an inconvenience, but I have confidence that the creators likely learned a lot from making this game. I'm looking forward to seeing what they make next! Not only that, but I streamed playing the demo over a year ago and one of the creators found the VOD despite it having 38 views as of today, and the composer found my stream of the full game too. That tells me that the people who worked on this game care about their player base, and that goes a long way. Good job on a good experience!1 found this helpful
Just completed the first level.. took me a while due to poor resourse management from my end. Controls responsiveness could use a bit more polishing but there are no major issues. Good graphics, soundtrack and post-apocaliptyc atmosphere in general.1 found this helpful
I enjoyed the game. Uncovering the story of what happened was a strong motivation to continue, upgrades were meaningful, figuring out how to clear sections of the surface efficiently while still being ready for each wave presented an engaging challenge. The dev is also very responsive on the Discord, he was able to fix a progression issue and a broken achievement quite quickly. It's not a terribly long game, but if you like this genre I recommend it. I do have three criticisms/gripes though: 1) The combat isn't amazing, and sometimes (especially during the Tower III mission) there's too much of it. To be clear it's not that it's too hard, it's that it's too tedious. There are so many enemies in some underground fights that you have to burn through your red bullets to kill them in time, which means yet another sprint back to back to restock. One particular area in Tower III had three different computers in close proximity on the far left side of the map, and I had to run all the way back between each one. One possible solution would be being able to set up temporary traps or turrets in the underground using cores. 2) It's hard to remember where things are. There's an overlay…
Beacon of Neyda is a post-apocalyptic action and strategy game developed and published by Ghost Creative Studio that successfully combines side-scrolling exploration, survival mechanics, base building, and tower defense into a cohesive experience. Rather than focusing solely on fast-paced combat, the game encourages players to rebuild hope in a devastated world where humanity is struggling to recover after a failed robot uprising. The premise immediately establishes a compelling atmosphere, placing players in the role of one of the few remaining survivors tasked with restoring abandoned outposts and uncovering the secrets hidden within a world scarred by mechanical warfare. Its pixel art presentation complements the bleak setting remarkably well, delivering environments that feel both desolate and visually engaging. The heart of the gameplay revolves around exploration and rebuilding. Each new region introduces a damaged beacon that serves as the foundation for a growing settlement. Repairing these structures is only the first step, as players must venture into dangerous territory to gather resources, recover technology, and expand their defensive capabilities. This creates an enj…
