About Nuclear Dawn
Nuclear Dawn merges full-scale FPS combat with real-time strategy command in a single cohesive experience, where soldiers battle across post-apocalyptic maps while commanders orchestrate resources, structures, and squad tactics from above. Two warring factions with distinct building styles, four classes per side with dozens of weapon loadouts, and commander abilities that heal troops or devastate enemies create a uniquely layered multiplayer warfare experience.
As a soldier, explore war-torn post-apocalyptic landscapes, modelled on modern cities, and take the fight to your enemies as armoured, assault or stealth infantry, using various weapons across ten distinct load-outs to accomplish your objectives. The first person shooter action in Nuclear Dawn is hard, fast and unforgiving, with weapons that rely on skill and tactics more than on twitch reflexes and map memorization.
Then, take Nuclear Dawn above the action, and play as the commander. Organize your fellow players in squads, and assign them to tactical objectives. Plan the resource routes for your army, and production of your structures for forward deployment. Exploit the terrain and resource point locations to block your enemies’ advance, and crush their plans in an iron fist. Research and implement new technologies to give your soldiers the edge on the battlefield, and set up forward bases to lead the assault on your enemies, with a full complement of defensive and offensive structures to choose from, to build your perfect fortress.

Back when this game first came out it was fun, but the servers are 100% dead with 0 active players.2 found this helpful
Had potential, but was left in a far too unpolished state. [list] [*]You can build walls but their hitboxes are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up you can shoot through them 90% of the time [*]Trying to fire/ADS/sprint "too soon" after completing a reload will not only retroactively cancel the reload but glitch your weapon into uselessness for several seconds [*]The RTS system has one extremely serious bug that causes construction orders to sometimes end up in limbo ,blocking you from constructing anything in that area for the rest of the match [*]The RTS system tries to stop you from placing buildings inside each other, but it doesn't try very hard [*]There is exactly one loadout in one class that can reasonably deal with turrets, hope you like playing Demolition Exo: there are other classes that can theoretically help, but they take far longer to get any results while taking far greater risks. [*]Damage feedback is atrociously bad with what seems like a good second of lag between your actual health value and the corresponding UI element [*]Human players can level up through a hundred-hours long grind to gain access to perks granting them massive numerical buffs (40% larger …1 found this helpful
FPS + Stragegy - who else does this? Best game concept and execution.1 found this helpful
dead game lel. Its kind of a shame because this was one of the pioneers in the RTS-FPS hybrid genre. It still has a killer atmosphere and world. Theres still bots to play with on the official servers. But you will need to host a gamenite with your friends in order to get anyone to actually play this game regularly. if you are playing it alone on the servers: you HAVE to be commander and spend most of your time just placing down structures and doing the call-in support because the bots can't actually be do commander things. Likewise the AI bots can't actually do commander things and so you'll be fighting a winning war every match trying to babysit braindead AI. Cool historical artifact: get it on steep sale.
Nuclear Dawn is a rare example of a game that successfully combines two genres that normally exist on opposite ends of the multiplayer spectrum. Developed by InterWave Studios and GameConnect and published by Iceberg Interactive, it blends first-person shooter action with real-time strategy mechanics into a single experience where battlefield performance and strategic planning are equally important. Set in a bleak future shaped by global conflict and societal collapse, the game pits the technologically advanced Empire against the resourceful Consortium in a struggle for territory and survival. While many titles have attempted to merge RTS and FPS gameplay, Nuclear Dawn remains one of the most convincing executions of the concept. The game's defining feature is its commander system. Instead of every player focusing solely on combat, one member of each team takes on the role of commander, viewing the battlefield from a top-down strategic perspective. This player is responsible for constructing bases, researching upgrades, securing resources, and directing teammates toward objectives. The result is a multiplayer experience where victories are determined not just by accurate shooting …
While not the first FPS/RTS hybrid on the source engine by any means, this game is certainly more polished and interesting than Empires, Lambda Wars or even Team Fortress: Brotherhood of arms. The classes feel unique (though the game could use more of them) The maps are beautyfull and massive. The game is cheap Though i wish reducing bullet spread without upgrades was more a matter of firing in short bursts over ADS, and i would love if there was more gamemodes.
