About Metal March

The world has turned into complete chaos. The fragile peace between races has shattered and trust is in short supply. As tensions rise and old alliances crumble, all the races are now preparing for an expedition to the World's Roof. Which one of the races will be the first to reach the Roof? Only YOU will be the one to know.

Get ready for an epic adventure to claim the powerful relics atop the World's Roof!
Remember, you must be the first to take over the relics at the World's Roof before others. But beware, time is running out. You must be the first to reach the relics before others.

With the help of the Wandering Wizard, you can briefly monitor the battlefield and control your troops.
You can identify each of your troops with tin dolls with different appearances.

All troops have their own movement / attack patterns.
In addition to the attributes and characteristics of the troop's powers, these movement and attack patterns are also essential factors that you need to consider in strategy.

Thoroughly plan your strategy and win. Effectively win the battle by moving troops where the enemy can't counter-attack and quickly retreating to a position the enemy cannot follow. Strategies like this will matter.

MAGIC can be a key that completes your strategy.

With Magic, you can either protect or strengthen your team. You can also choose a strategy that destroys enemies with magic attacks.

Your magic combination also plays a vital role in the battle. Even within the same collaboration of troops, strategies vary depending on which magic spells you cast and in what order.

There are 6 races that you can select for your troops. Each race has its own strengths and weaknesses.
You can overcome the weaknesses of your race with the skills and magics of other races.

To succeed at the beginning of the expedition, some races need to focus on using their unique strengths while others need to work on overcoming their weaknesses.

There is another way to strengthen your troops and magic skills... RELICS!
RELICS provide special effects and synergies in ways that can't be obtained from other sources.

With relics, you can increase your income during the expedition, add beneficial effects before starting a battle, strengthen certain types of troops & magic powers, and weaken your enemies.

You can only activate a limited number of relics, but you can replace them at any time except during battle.

Choose and use relics according to your needs and circumstances!

 • CHESS-inspired turn-based strategy game mixed with card collection genres.
 • Select your troops from 6 races
 • Race-themed areas
 • 7 types of unique troops and 11 types of unique magic powers per race
 • 27 types of troops and 20 types of magic shared among troops
 • More than 40 kinds of relics
Reviewing card games is what we do!
Metal March is a peculiar mix of light army management, exploration, chess like combat and some light card play. It has some neat ideas which I hope get developed more during its EA. To break it down:
Chess like combat
Every unit has a certain pattern in which it moves, but unlike chess (except pawns) it also has has separate patterns of attack. While in theory this opens up more tactical options, in practice it often felt clunky. It adds another aspect to track which was not particularly fun. Often I had my archer unit not be able to move into an attacking position even though the enemy is literally 2 squares away because of it's weird movement/attack patterns. I wish the movement was simplified or aligned with the attack pattern, but otherwise it plays like most tactical games where positioning is important and you need to plan ahead a bit. There are also attacks of opportunity and counter attacks.
Army management and exploration
Similar to some Heroes of Might&Magic games, you can stack your units, recruit different kinds of them and replace your killed off units with new ones. It's simple bu…

Interesting concept, boring realization. Wait until the devs severely improve it or someone else does it better.

It is very interestng game, I enjoy the vibe very much. the thing is I don't understand how to make sure I have nough coin or enough power againts some enemies - when written similiar or I can get something out of it. I wish there was a manual that helps with the meaning of the numbers because I forget everything pretty fast.

It's Hero of might and magic/King's bounty but spells are drawn from a deck of cards and units move with chess jumps, no multiple heroes so defeat is game over, no integrated save/load. You can not launch the game if internet is offline? Indie Made with Unity = keep and play next winter for heating.

TL:DR Definitely my type of game, but I had to refund it. ---- The "tutorial" gives basic information but in a disruptive, poorly integrated way. First combat was a win. Second was a solid defeat. ---- Spell cards are mostly lame buffs—a major turn-off. After battle, the option to collect coin was shown but nothing clickable for it; only troop collection worked. ---- For those who understand, CE (where E = engine) does not run efficiently. Each time the game loads, you have to reconfigure everything—budget an hour if you want it all set up.

Thumbs up only because of the price. It quickly gets repetitive, combat is rather boring, magic cards are boring.
