About Tales & Tactics
Guide a squad of diverse fantasy units through a roguelike tournament where you build synergies between tanks, mages, healers and more to dominate auto-battles at your own pace. Every run generates unique item and perk combinations that let you experiment with different strategies, with an unlock system that gradually expands depth rather than power so you control the challenge.

Guide your character’s story on their path to glorious victory in The Grand Tournament, the annual ultimate test of skill. Progress through a single-player adventure across 3 acts, battling rival characters and fierce bosses along the way.
Build a squad of units from a wide variety of fighters - from Fae, Dragons and Treefolk to Skeletons, Ghouls, and Orcs! Collect a team of Tanks, Healers, Mages, Engineers and more - using their synergies to turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Find powerful Equipment to give to your units, expand your Army Size, unlock new and more powerful tiers of Units, and acquire unique Level-Up Perks to help you on your journey. No two runs will have the same rewards on offer - and it’s up to you to make the most potent team possible.
Unlock new features with each run - win or lose. Gain new Perks, Units, Items, and more, with an Unlock system that prioritizes expanding depth instead of granting more power. Each of these unlocks can be disabled, so you can ramp up the new systems and mechanics at your own pace.

Once you’ve proven yourself in the Grand Tournament, try scaling the Challenge Climb, which adds both challenging difficulty increases and exciting new mechanics to the trials ahead. Or, try your hand at Asynchronous PVP - battle players from around the world in a true display of tactics and strategy!

Play Time: 79.9 hours Achievements: 68 of 68. 100% Date/Version: July 17th 2026 / 1.4.34 Rating: 9 out of 10 Tales & Tactics is an Auto Battler , Hex Grid, Rouge-lite, tactics game. In this game you'll begin by selecting a difficulty, selecting a “champion”, and essentially starting your run. Within each run you'll recruit members of your team. Your team needs to synchronize with each unit, and honestly you may have to shift strategies at some points. Your team will consist of upwards 6 to 8 units by the end of the game run. Each unique “tribe” has their own trait, these traits will either offer benefits to that “tribe” of units or the tribe plus other units. There is a very small story element and an announcer whom you can disable. You'll go on an “adventure” where you select 1 of the two actions after each encounter. Random events will pop up offering tempting prices or some prices with some consequences. You'll obtain passives like “artifacts/perks” in the game that'll help your run and rarely hurt your run. In addition there are a nice chunk of items you can equip to your units, help your main character with the run, and items you can equip can be combined to create powerful c…
Wasn't sure how much I liked it at first, but after unlocking different characters, got into the swing of things and really enjoy trying out different techniques. Some traits seem grossly stronger than others (healing is bonkers), but good balance overall. Some bugs with drafting (my favorite type) as the abilities I pick sometimes don't show up in the game, but that just means I have to adjust.
It's a roguelike autobattler (the player chooses the fighters for their team, and then the fight happens automatically). At the beginning, you choose a character from nine available, each with different abilities. Then, over the course of the run, you build your team. The fighters on your team can be selected from randomly drawn pools, and if three more copies of the same fighter are found, they are upgraded to level four. Between fights, random events occur, which generally offer advantages (equipment, potions, special abilities, etc.). This is my first time playing this type of game (I like turn-based combat games that allow you to have complete control of the fight), and I have to say I had a lot of fun. I particularly appreciated: The enormous variety of fighters, allowing for countless different combinations and strategies. The draft option, which allows you to combine the characteristics of the starting characters to create alternative builds. The downsides are: Dependence on luck in drawing the necessary fighters: upgrading fighters is essential to progressing in the game, but if you're unlucky, you won't find the copies you need and will be defeated. Since there are s…
great game
It's not a bad game. And that's the best I can say. Dead game? I unlocked the full mastery tree, it didn't take long, which was a bummer. The Steam discussion board for this game is not active at all. I've played TFT since season 1, still do, but want to find a different good auto battler game. This ain't it.
Excellent auto-chess game. Good depth, fun combos, pacing is solid, difficulty is malleable in all the right ways, and complexity is added as the player learns the gameplay. Runs great, haven't had a single crash or bug.
