However, 20 years later, the virus has spread beyond the isolated mountains, and the world is gripped in a pandemic that leaves no hope. The government, desperate for a cure, seeks foreign aid and dispatches a first expedition team to contain the outbreak, but they disappear without a trace. The second expedition team is sent in to find the source of the virus. However, as the team ventures back into the mountains, they realize that the virus has evolved, adapted, and become far more terrifying than anyone ever imagined. What they find there will test their will to survive and may mean the end of humanity as we know it.

Pros: - Puzzles strike a nice balance not too hard, not too easy. - Combat is fun. I enjoy the gunplay, and the sound design is well done. - There’s a boss fight. - You can loot and craft (mainly ammo). - Weapons can be upgraded. - Gameplay feels similar to Resident Evil 1 — classic survival horror. - The environment is beautiful and atmospheric. Cons: - No melee combat (though it’s a shooter game, so that’s understandable). - Healing items are a bit too limited. - Map loading takes around 1.5 minutes but since it's seamless, it’s not a big issue. - Occasionally, the camera gets blocked by foliage. Overall: - I didn’t encounter any critical bugs during my playthrough. - I love this game. it has a cat!4 found this helpful
I'm a fan, 10 of 10 in my book. - Update: Finished, wow, the amount of content in this game is amazing. - Excellent game, the more I play the more I'm impressed. Starts deceptively simple but layers and layers get added. Great action, but intelligent design makes observation paramount. As is the use of resources at the upgrade workbench. Would add more plants, most valuable of all in my view. Could see this level of creativity done by famed Blobber Team, and it's here for full enjoyment. Highly recommend you don't miss this. At a certain point my rather old graphic card stopped working well: not drawing certain walls and foes, leaving them invisible. Just opened C:\Users\PC\AppData\Local\DecayZ_Origin\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor GameUserSettings.ini [ScalabilityGroups] sg.ResolutionQuality=60.000000 ( instead of 100.0000 causing the bork ) Fixed all, zero problems to the end of the game. --- Disclosure: 70 y.o. gamer, I make C.E. tables for all the games I play. For other slower mature gamers or the interested, some hints to enjoy this gem fully : Stamina current and max addresses, Float, 100.0000. Health, same. Corrupted Blood (red line) is another add…3 found this helpful
Its a fun little "On the rail" $10 Indie zombie shooter. Shoot, Reload, Craft. Rinse Lather Repeat. The Meley needs some work imho. https://www.youtube.com/live/zQjJBUq4sBs?si=33UMLBfDnW4DWqEN2 found this helpful
Although I have only just started playing, I'm putting a review up now (and will update once I have completed the game) since this game seems to be going way under the radar which is a real shame because this is a genuinely well crafted experience, and a clear passion project with a lot more to offer than you might think. As it stands, there is no controller support which is not a deal breaker for me, but I really am looking forward to trying it with a controller (developer is working on adding this in the future) as it is my preferred way to play. That said, it controls really nicely with keyboard and mouse, very responsive and the combat is fun and engaging. It can be a little rough when zombies run at you though, I've had a couple of them more or less get stuck to me until I kicked them off, so I am looking forward to the next update which sounds like it will add a melee combat system. Level design so far seems quite solid too. And of course, the cat is cute and charming. Who doesn't want to go blazing through zombies with a cat on their shoulder? If you are on the fence, consider giving it a chance. If you like the style of recent resident evil remakes, you might find yours…1 found this helpful
I PLAYED THE DEMO BEFORE I BOUGHT THE GAME , IF YOU HAVE THE HORIPAD STEAM CONTROLLER I EVEN PUT A TEMPLATE OUT FOR THAT AS WELL, ITS NOT A BAD ZOMBIE GAME FOR UNDER $5 , COULD USE SOME MORE POLISH ON CONTROLS, AND MORE BULLETS, MAYBE FIX HOW MY BULLETS I PUT IN THE ZOMBIES HEAD BEFORE THEY PERISH BUT DEFINATLY A RE TYPE GAME ON A BUDGET ....THE CHEERLEADER PIGTALE ZOMBIE CHICK HAD ME LAUGHING MY A## OFF WHEN I WAS PICKING OFF HER LITTLE BUDDIES LOL
At the beginning of the game you can save a kitten from the attack of a zombie. The little fella then will join you for the rest of the game, sitting on your shoulder and warning you of some valuable loot in your proximity. Sadly that's pretty much the only positive aspect of this game. DecayZ Origin took me roughly 10 hours to complete (it can probably be completed faster than this) and they were the longest 10 hours of my life. The fundamental flaw of this game, in my opinion, is that it completely misinterprets what makes a good survival horror/horror shooter game. What this game thinks is fun and engaging is shooting zombies with a firearm and that's it. Because it's pretty much all you do in this game. Excluding the very first sections, which are decently designed and connected through shortcuts, for the vast majority of the game you just run through different sections, which are basically long corridors with different themes, shooting groups and groups of undead. No resource management: the games throws at you more bullets than you can ever shoot. No strategy in dealing with enemies: like I said, you have plenty of ammo and, once triggered, the enemies will stay ag…
