About Escape Dead Island

Escape Dead Island is a Survival-Mystery game set on the enigmatic island of Narapela after the events of the zombie outbreak of the original Dead Island. The story lets players unravel the origins of the zombie virus through the eyes of the would-be documentary journalist Cliff Calo. There are no superpowers to keep Cliff alive, just a few makeshift weapons against hordes of infected zombies. It will be integral to choosing wisely between stealth and combat at certain moments in the game.

Cliff Calo, son of wealthy media mogul Tom Calo, led a care-free life with little regard for the family business. However, when his father decides to hand over the company to his younger sister Heather, Cliff feels insulted and excluded. Knowing that his father desperately seeks an insight on the unexplained events on Banoi for his broadcasting channels, Cliff and his friends set sail to land the story that will prove his worth.

Being a top graduate and highly skilled in martial arts, Xian Mei was the first female recruit to join the People’s Liberation Army as part of their domestic crime squadron. She was sent undercover to the Royal Palms Resort on the Island of Banoi as part of a secret mission. Then the zombie outbreak happened and soon after she was spotted at neighbouring island Narapela…

The Island of Narapela is part of the Banoi Archipelago and located only a few miles from Banoi. Narapela is both a place and an adversary that jealously guards its secrets. As Cliff ventures deeper into the island, his adventure begins to become more and more distorted and unpredictable. Tear through a world that reacts to your every move and collect every clue you can: somewhere amid the madness lies the truth behind Dead Island’s apocalyptic outbreak.

You know how it goes – no halo, no grace, Our hero’s no saint in this sun-bleached place. A spoiled young scion with something to prove, On an island where corpses have started to move. Friends in distress, or so he believes, A chance to be more than the role he receives. To earn father’s nod, that distant acclaim – Yet something runs deeper… not all is the same. There’s dread in the cracks, a whisper, a bend, A truth that unravels the means and the end. For saving the day is not what it seems, And glory dissolves in fractured dreams. Weapons in hand – nothing fancy, but true: An axe for the close, a pistol or two. And when all else fails, with a grin half-askew – A well-placed boot will see the strike through. The rhythm’s agreeable, steady at first, With moments of tension, a manageable burst. Until crates from the heavens come crashing down – Momentum disrupted, a mechanical frown. Yet style holds firm in bold-lined flair, A comic-book world with a devil-may-care. Treasures to gather, small secrets to trace, And a camera to capture the madness in place – Each snapshot a wink, a tongue-in-cheek nod, To a world gone sideways… absurd, slightly odd…

https://backloggd.com/u/gamemast15r/review/4743868/ (If you want most of the review, includes the s h i t story and more) Okay how do I even categorize the gameplay here? The game is a third person action game with some REALLY iffy stealth elements and a framework that comes off as a metroidvania. Starting with the combat, one of the best parts about this game is that unlike the original Dead Island, you won’t be having to switch out weapons every five seconds and dealing with level gating artificial difficulty. The game’s combat is as simple as swinging your axe (or sword which you can later pick up) at numerous zombies and most can go down in a hit or three. It works with the controller and you can lock onto enemies, though it still feels awkward to maneuver around if you have a couple of zombies surrounding you. In fact, the game works better when it’s only a couple of zombies then a whole bunch or with a special infected or two as you can just use a heavy attack once or twice to kill three at once. You can also execute them if one of them is knocked down on the ground (in which case time slows down, but there aren't any invincibility frames) or if you pop up behind them for a …

Mr. Pung Yung, coming at you with another review. Started the DLC by accident and am now stuck in the ending section because Cliff keeps dying after a scripted sequence for some reason. Even besides that, the game is not fantastic. Kind of a cheaper version of other games you've probably played before. Maybe if that's what you want, you'll find what you're looking for? Pretty bad game imo. Entirely seperate to what makes Dead Island fun, really tried to finish this game and got around 70% through but just couldnt force myself to pplay this slop any longer. the game acts as if stealth is an option but 80% fof the time enemies spawn facing in the direction you are and in same said sections. Cover will always give away your position if you try and get around and behind the zombies. Probabably the only zombie game where the combat isn't fun and i would rather just try and run around the zombies. Story was ok as a prequel to the whole series but just do what i did and watch a lore video on youtube if your really interested in it for the story. Gameplay just isn't worth it

Got some clear issues, the gameplay gets repetitive, the stealth is kinda basic, and the story tries to be deep but just ends up confusing. Still, it ain’t a bad game like that, it’s playable and can keep you entertained for a bit if you just tryna kill time and not expect too much.
