About Am I?

When we talk about outer space is there something cooler than an astronaut?
Someone could have said a space marine, but where are we, in the first decade of the 2000s?
What about a Russian dog astronaut cursing in the afterlife?
Laika is the protagonist of this small absurd point and click game,
hand-drawn and animated.
After being sent into space Laika will find herself exploring some asteroids,
meeting weird and obnoxious characters and solving puzzles
in order to figure out what the hell is happening to her.
Through her journey she will lose herself in time, space and even in herself,
if that makes some sense for you.
The big question is: is she dead?
Probably yes, but that’s not a big spoiler, actually that’s just the premise of the game
and the starting point for a bigger question.
This entirely hand-drawn point-and-click adventure will test you with puzzles
based on the concept of time, space and your own individuality.

I haven't had a game make me tear up in a long, loong time. It's gonna stay in my head, that's a guarantee. It's not perfect, some of the puzzles confused me and I plead guilty of looking up how to do a few of them.
(post fruitflies I'm looking at you.)
The most interesting one was
the one with clicking the NO button with the primate. I think the game would benefit from more "dynamic" puzzles like that one.
. The game tries to be self-aware a bit too hard, but that is something I like, that's its charm. It's not a "cozy but philosophical cute dog" type of a game, it gets ironic, Laika swears, it breaks the immersion a little but it makes me snort. I like Laika sarcastic and a little mean, she's got every right to that. I greatly enjoyed it all, it's beautiful. Soundtrack is wonderful, I could listen to it on loop for a long, long time, It's a cool take on Laika's story, and I think it cemented my decision to get a Laika tattoo.
Thank you for letting me comfort her at the end.
3 found this helpful
Am I? is a small indie adventure/casual game about Laika, a space-faring protagonist sent into the void after launch. You explore surreal asteroids, meet odd characters, and solve puzzles as you try to make sense of your situation — blurring boundaries between reality, identity, and existence. Gameplay is centered on exploration and simple point-and-click interactions with environments and characters. The hand-drawn art and oddball tone give the experience some charm, but the puzzle design and narrative pacing are fairly light, and the overall structure can feel disjointed at times. Reviews on Steam are mixed, with players split on how much the game’s style and story resonate. I spent about 71 minutes with Am I?, and since there are no achievements, progression felt purely narrative-driven without any meta goals. The price during sale was €1.99, making it an easy low-commitment experience. Overall, Am I? is a short, artistic little space-adventure best suited for players curious about surreal storytelling rather than deep mechanics. If you enjoy brief, quirky indie narratives and don’t mind a minimal gameplay loop, it’s worth a cheap try.1 found this helpful
A very short but very fun experience. the puzzles were clever and the art style was very nice. more people should be checking this game out for real.1 found this helpful
The puzzles were too random, and the ending didn't make sense, in a way that was too sad without a real message1 found this helpful
Am I? is a deeply unconventional indie adventure developed by Pixel Quail in collaboration with Gamera Interactive and published by Gamera Interactive, offering an experience that prioritizes mood, curiosity, and philosophical ambiguity over traditional structure or clear-cut progression. Rather than guiding the player through a neatly defined narrative arc, the game invites exploration of identity, existence, and perception through a surreal journey that unfolds in fragments, often leaving interpretation entirely in the player’s hands. It is a title that deliberately resists easy answers, embracing confusion and introspection as core design principles. The game places players in control of Laika, a canine astronaut drifting through a strange and fragmented cosmos after a mission gone wrong. From this starting point, Am I? quickly establishes its interest in existential uncertainty, asking not only where Laika is, but what state of being she inhabits. Is she alive, dreaming, remembered, or something else entirely? These questions are never addressed directly. Instead, the game constructs meaning through abstract environments, cryptic dialogue, and interactions with peculiar charac…
Honestly? I was waiting for something better. The game was kind of pointless to be honest with the "story" (if I can call that a story after all). The "puzzles" was random and you had to check some Guides or a YouTube video to find the clue, as it was hard to find or you end up walking and clicking-checking everything. It is a pitty because it could be a very good game with an interesting story. For almost 1 hour to complete this game the price is really not worth it. Better to check the game on a discount if you want it so bad or you want to help the developers to earn some cash.
