Alter Evo is a rare game. It develops and leans into a unique atmosphere of surrealism, horror, and weirdness that is at times hysterical and other times super creepy and unsettling. The main world and quest-line blend topics of modern dating and the tech scene with zany sci-fi, set against the backdrop of a huge dystopian world that you slowly demystify throughout the game. Without giving away too much, there are quests involving talking animals, going on a date at a underground club, but also breaking into prisons, sewers, and uncovering crazy secrets of the nightmarish aspects of the world you inhabit (the "memos" you find along the way are some of my favorite bits). The total experience is mad and hilarious and creepy. The gameplay itself is a story-driven 3rd person game, with elements of gun combat, driving, a variety of puzzles, and a mix of story-driven quests (going to help grandma find her paint, or breaking into a power plant). The voice acting and dialogue is hilarious throughout, and the music was really tastefully done to curate the overall unsettling vibe of the world. Definitely recommended for anyone that likes things out of the box

Honestly playing this felt like pure respect. In a sea of sterile games made purely for safe corporate profit, watching some guy just throw his unfiltered thoughts straight onto the screen felt insanely refreshing. Mechanics are pretty janky, optimization is a mess, and by the end credits i was just staring at the screen with my brain fried. Do i care? Not really. because this game doesn't win on polish, it thrives entirely on its flaws and the creator's honest vision. every single frame and weird dialogue carries the signature of an unhinged legend who just said "i wanted to make this so i did." We really need more brave, personal projects like this in the industry. massive respect to the developer, keep doing your thing and i'm already looking forward to whatever you're cooking up next.

I love this game. It's really fun, and the intricate plot makes me feel like I'm playing through a novel. The excellent story, visuals, dark themes, humour, and diverse characters keeps me bouncing along through the main character's struggles and loneliness, at every stage steadily transcending a bit closer to a kind of sublime spiritual realm.
