Someday You'll Return: Director's Cut

It's not perfect, but it's 100% a great game. The mixing needs a lot of work, especially in the intro, but thankfully for the rest of the game the audio mixing is at least consistently serviceable. The game has a really easy to get into story that's well-paced and translated well through the gameplay. The puzzle work is really nice. There's not a single puzzle that becomes a chore nor overstays their welcome, all the while the game successfully keeps things fresh and engaging for majority of the puzzles. The story may be direct and honest, but the execution of the game definitely makes the story's appeal shine through.

For an UE4 game, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and searching for secrets. It has a good length and enjoyed the graphics and level design and how it saves often so you can always go back to a save if you made a mistake. Issues -Its not setup for ultra widescreen so I had to use the universal unreal 4 engine unlocker to change the FOV to 139 deg in my case. (Btw the character seems to move much faster for some reason with a higher FOV). -There are multiple areas where you can get stuck in the geometry and softlock, but the good news is there isnt hardly any penalty as the game saves very often and you can easily re-load the past save maybe loosing a minute or 2 of game progression. I'm currently on chapter 10 and have had about 4 softlocks.

Gave it two hours, started off kinda good, graphics are decent spooky sort of atmosphere, but when the game comes to the flower mixing bench in order for the main charecter to bypass having mud in his eyes and blurred vision it just becomes too self indulgent, if you mess up a recepie you have to start fumbling round the woods to collect the correct ingredients again.. and thats the games problem, you just go from one area to the next wondering what to do, nothing scary happens, a lot of it is set in daylight, and the game gives you far too large of a playing space out in the woods for what seem like what should be simple tasks, "find a key".. "yea but find it in this HUGE sprawling forrest 5000000000000000000 times the keys size, its also very incoherent in the sense there are key items you will walk up to thinking they are just part of the background or decoration, which later turn out to actually be key items you just crossed them earlier in the story than the game wanted you to. You will be bored, frustrated, and deprived of any scares or fun playing this game.

This was interesting and fun experience, definitely worth picking up on a sale, not completely sold on full price.

It's so so. I would give it a positive review if it wasn't so annoying. The story doesn't make a lot of sense and the puzzles are vague and tedious. Tons of running around confusing trails to mainly find trash. I mean, I'll try to finish it because I do want to see what happens and I do enjoy parts of it. On second thought I think I'm done. You will get stuck at a part where if you didn't farm all your herbs first or forget one item you will screw yourself. Terrible game design.
