Final Recurrence

As you know (or don't), Steam is ripe with [i]simple[/i] and janky, indie horror games. Games that bank on the atmosphere to do the heavy lifting with low-quality assets obscured by the darkness, shielding them from our judgemental gaze. And [i]Final Recurrence[/i] is one such game, the first of its kind I indulged in. But, to understand why I enjoyed it, you also must know my likes when it comes to two things — [b][i]how[/i][/b] and [b][i]where[/i][/b] the spook is delivered. So, let's start with the [b][i]how[/i][/b]. Just like being able to pleasure myself, I want to do the scaring myself, for the most part. I don't want my eardrums ravished by those irritating loud jump scare fests many horror games like to reduce themselves to nowadays. Oooooooo, loud noise goes brrrr, and that's horror because I jerked (off). Just...no. But, like any professional of the night can get me to salute them, not all do it with grace. Warm butter spreads better, as they say. So, entertain my brain. Allow it to go on its own horror-infused daydreams, sprinkling some more proactive segments here and there. Don't just splash gruesome pixels on my screen, followed by loud shrieks that make me questio…

So the game started out okay until I got the first house where there were some puzzles. There are spelling errors in a lot of the dialogue and notes you find scattered around. The game broke once I got to the second ladder in the house in the forest. It shot me around the map, and back in the house, and then had to do a bunch of maneuvers to get up there ladder. Then it said press E to use the zipline (which was not present) and it just bugged out. It needs a lot of fixing before it gets where it needs to be and I might try it again. It also doesn't support a lot of resolution options.

I really got sucked in by the opening credits and the selection of music was perfect for the ambiance. Once, I arrived at the forest, however, the entire experience felt disjointed and confusing. As soon as you find your first note they pretty much gave away the baddies to the story. I think the game likely suffered from translation issues which is unfortunate but I cannot recommend the game.

Started playing and got scared right after 5 minutes. This game is just too good for the price. So I recommend it :)

Developed by Bluehope Studios, Final Recurrence it's a horror game, with some exploration in the mix. Although this sounds quite enticing, the game is not for everyone. An abundance of bugs, glitches and hard to trigger events. The final session of the game is one of the most irritating levels I ever had the displeasure of playing, in a long time. I can't recommend it, especially since I find the price quite high for what the game has to offer. Buy it if you really want, in a promotion, otherwise, stay clear from it. You will thank me latter. I had a hard time with this game. I've played many indie-horror games on Steam but this one just didn't work out for me.. The ending first off was ridiculous and eye-rolling. There are glitches like getting stuck in objects or invisible walls, the grammar/translation is quite poor too. The first time you encounter the enemy, he spawns in front of you and kills you instantly. The game will reload at the same point and the enemy spawns behind you and lets you run away... wtf? Also, tons of optimization issues. The resolution will not change from 1440p244. So bad even though my GPU and monitor can handle it fine. You do not need 200+ fps in a game like this, had to cap it with Nvidia settings. Also lots of graphical glitches with flickering and draw issues. I would give this a mixed review if Steam had the option, but this game just flopped. Could have been really good and had a few cool moments.
